Have been coming here for the past 3 years everyweek for dinner. Then they shut down Tuesday's for half price burger night which was always full and there was always people waiting outside to get in. So we went down Wednesday to eat. We got there at 5:30 and sit down. Sat there for 20 minutes and never got waited. The staff just walked by and looked never stopping to ask if we were helped. So sad to see this happen here. PS we weren't the only ones.
The steakhouse and tavern are two separate restaurants. We stopped by for lunch one day, wanting to go to the steakhouse, however, it was closed so we settled on the tavern.The portion sizes are incredibly large, however, bigger is not always necessarily better. Whilst I didn’t have a problem with my food, my lunch mate had sour soup and we were generally unimpressed with what we were served.On top of that, we were one of only three tables in the restaurant and service was still extremely slow. We never got refills and went a long time without seeing our server when we were ready for our checks. I am usually very forgiving when it comes to service but in addition to the food quality this is just not a place I would recommend.
Service was alright. Friendly . They were slammed. Patio was very nice. Everyone was professional and friendly. Prices were good . Ordered some apps. Cold pretzels and cold onion rings, all with good sauces . Ordered perch sandwich with hand-cut fries. Fish was okay, sauce was nice, but the bun was cold and stale .. fries, okay flavor, but cold ... Kind of a letdown, but attributed to maybe a rush or shortages that all service industries have. Letdown to drive an hour to such a nice place and not have a great experience.
The food and service was amazing. The tender Beth was great, we loved her! I had the soup and sandwich combo, today was clam chowder (new england style) and tuna melt. Both were very good. I would of given five stars if the place was cleaner. The bathroom was not the cleanist, which I base the cleanliness of a kitchen on the cleanliness of the bathrooms. We will definitely come back, but I hope to find a pristine clean and will amend my four stars to five!
Had the perch sandwich which was good. Staff was awesome. Didn't have any drinks so I can't talk about those. I would recommend going here. if you like a bar/restaurant style I would highly recommend checking this place out.
We ate in The Tavern portion and it was a great atmosphere. The burgers were good. Service was a bit slow but they were super busy and she had tons of tables so it was OK.
