I'll start off with the good: Very friendly staff and generously sized portions. Our waitress Michelle was lovely and the complimentary bread and butter was a nice gesture. Our spinach and artichoke dip appetizer with tortilla chips was tasty, and the house dressing that accompanied our side salads was memorable. The not so good: Immediately upon being seated you can't help but notice the lighting in the dining area. It gives a cafeteria-like feeling to the place and I found it very uncomfortable. The decor and the clientele were one in the same: Old!Our entrees were just sad. My husband ordered the NY Strip. Half of it was fat and inedible. Quite unacceptable of a $30 steak.I ordered the chicken cacciatore. The chicken itself tasted as if it were boiled in chicken broth. It was bland, tasteless and pekid. The dish was a soupy, oily mess. The only thing that offered any flavor at all was the peppers. It was our first time here, and unfortunately we will not be returning.

My 1st visit was after an 8th grade dance. I and my date were treated like any adult. We were appropriately dressed. The service and food was terrific. That's what a kid would say back in 1974. I'm much older and the service by cordial, polite and friendly staff, selection of cuisine, daily specials, drinks, ambiance and dedication to "the strip" Route 422, where many historic restaurants once lined and now only Cafe 422 survives and thrives because of their excellence. Please visit and keep the history alive. You'll be glad you did.

Very clean, the food was excellent and the staff was very friendly (not robotic). Our server, Clay, was professional, polite, informative and socially engaging. It mirrored their restaurant in Boardman.

Had a terrific meal and great service. The chicken fransaie is wonderful.

Disappointing. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2 because there were a couple good things. I’ll go in order. The butter for the bread was nice. It was real, creamy, buttery butter comparable to Kerry Gold. However, it was too cold to spread. The bread was meh. Although it was fresh, it was flavorless. The spinach artichoke dip was very good, nothing to complain about there for me, but my husband thought the chips were overcooked. I had the beet salad on the special menu and added salmon. The beets tasted horrible- like they were cooked a week ago, they were not even the right color, I think they were actually bad. The arugula was old. A third was yellow and there were some slimy bits. The salmon was a good piece- it was cooked nicely. My husband had prime rib. I tried a piece, it did not taste good- I thought it was on the verge of going bad. Overall, it was not a good experience. This was supposed to be a nice place. It was on the higher end price wise. I was extremely disappointed. The atmosphere coming in was nice, but the dining room was somehow cheap feeling. Possibly changing the lighting would help. One thing that really stuck out was the way the staff was dressed. Yoga pants? Unprofessional. I will not be returning.

Every other time I've been here, Every thing I've ordered has been excellent. Unfortunately this last Wednesday was not the case. My waiter was great, the only problems I had was I ordered the crispy calamari and when it came I tried to eat 1 and it was over cooked so it was rubbery. He took it back and 2 minutes later brought me the melt in your mouth calamari I was use to. I ordered the Prime Rib Special that states on the menu is $19.99. I got it and was suppose to have mushrooms and onions on it. They forgot them and he bought them in a separate bowl. The prime rib had a thick brown sauce on it which made the whole thing not taste right. After I got home I looked and then realized that I was charged $23.98 for it. It wasn't worth it. Don't think I'll order that again. Every thing else I got though was good.

The place is large and can fit a crowd, especially if you have a big party needing served. It has a nice menu, but it feels dated to me. I'm sure I'll give it another try soon.

The food is phenomenal - perfectly flavored with excellent portion sizes. I absolutely love their sauces! Wish I could give 10 stars for service, though; our waitress, Madeline, was absolutely wonderful! So kind and super attentive. We’d come back based on service alone! Highly recommend

$80 grub hub order. This was my kids late Vday dinner. Here's the steak for my 8 year old daughter that I ordered med-well (with a note asking it to be between med-well/well)...it's RARE. it's so cold it didnt bleed when I cut it. My son's ribs are ok ..I don't get to eat because I didn't get the caprese salad I ordered. Taco bell does better. What a shame; never again.

We enjoyed our evening at 422. Our waitress Madeline was fabulous. I had prime rib, my wife had salmon on her beet salad and our friend had the white fish. Our meals came with lovely salads. We had some of the pre meal peppers. Oh my! But tasty.
