All I can say is DELICIOUS! If you want home cooked food with soul, this is your place to eat. I dined in. Very pleasant atmosphere with jazz in the background. Friendly attentive staff. I will be back so I can try at least 75% of the menu.
First of all, we drove from Michigan to partake in this greatness!We had a little bit of everything literally wing's, cat fish that was seasoned just right and it could've been fried a little harder, the yam's, black eyed peas, collard greens, seasoned pinto beans, corn bread was slightly dry. Even with the slight bumps, they won us over. Overall we were happy to make the drive. I'm looking forward to my next time.1. Our server Janelle was outstanding. She was very kind and had an answer to all of questions.2. The manager on duty Dwight was friendly.3. Jaeleo was very humble about our happiness.4. Ms.Michelle was just as humble and we were honored with her presence and the history of J Mae's.
The wait staff was nice, the food was good to me. This was my first visit. The only thing was the wait time (30+ for a Saturday)and it wasn't crowded. I'm not sure if this is due to this being a dine in, carry out, and drive through establishment. Outside of that, no complaints really. I will be back to try it again the next time I visit Ohio.
I’ve dined here plenty of times with my family for breakfast lunch and dinner. Service & food are usually great! This visit how ever wasn’t as pleasant as the others, the food was okay. Food came out hot but wasn’t as flavorful. We I ordered the lunch special fried chicken and two sides, my husband had the Memphis burger platter. The service was great as always but restaurant appearance needs so care. Overall I wanted to support a local black owned business and that felt good!
Excellent food with top notch service. Despite being short staffed, still managed to give us great service and the food was delicious!
My girlfriend and I stopped in earlier today and the food was great the service was phenomenal and i can’t stop thinking about that food ??

It was okay.The dirty rice and cornbread were dry and the mac and cheese kind of bland, it looked better than what it tasted. *However*, they have some of the BEST catfish I have ever had...it was delicious. I won't sleep on them yet, I will definitely go back for more and try other items. Service was good and the wait time was accurate. I'll be back.
Loved it. We had a full course meal... fish & fries with Cole slaw was amazing... tasteful sweet tea... love to come back again for their amazing hospitality and business... All the staff were awesome and courteous to our needs and order requests...
