Always very good! Had the Rueben this time and it did not disappoint. Variety of macaroni and potato salads to choose from as well as other sides. A great deli with a long history in Springfield
Stopped in today to relive wonderful memories of stopping here after high school tennis matches. Unfortunately, things can go downhill terribly in 20 years. The sandwiches weren’t nearly what they used to be, prices were too high for the quality, and most notably, the staff was hostile and terribly unfriendly. I was standing there, clearly ready to order and they wouldn’t even acknowledge us. Finally, the older gal said to the younger one something like “I guess you should take their order.” So disappointed with what used to be a wonderful place.
First timer,a friend took me there for lunch. Great choice.Clean, friendly, staff great too.We had the 6-in Reuben very good.I will go back ☺
I do enjoy the atmosphere and I like deli and their selection, but the prices are a bit high for the size/quantity of food you get. (However that’s happening everywhere with everything no adays) but it’s just not worth it anymore when my husband and I both will spend almost $40 for almost 4”-6” subs, a drink, & chips, and will still leave a bit hungry. We could go a little ways down the road for Penn Station and spend half the amount, and leave stuffed. It’s a rare trip we make to come here now, mainly for the nostalgia.
Arrived at 9:10, closes at 11:00. Ordered a Philly cheese steak that had a pinch of steak and at ton of raw peppers and onions. They ran us out of the door, dining room closed, at 9:20 and locked the front door. Used to be a good place.
Overpriced for our PhillySteaks I thought. Had better and larger portions at several other places. I would have sauted the onions & peppers longer. Large portion on fries.
Great food. Excellent sandwiches. I'm from Cincinnati. Came up to see a friend and tried this place loved it. Highly recommended it.
Sandwich wasn't steamed well at all, was closing at 830 on a weekend. Young kid was nice
$45 seems steep for a counter service restaurant that gives you a paper bag with soggy sandwiches. We ordered two Philly cheesesteaks and a small turkey, cheese and mayo for the kids. The Philly sandwiches were soggy, as if the bread had been steamed. The onions and green peppers were hard and crunchy like they hadn't been cooked. No sauce on the sandwich. The kids' sandwich was so soggy and the meat was cold in the middle. Very unimpressed. Wish we would have gone to Penn Station. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing?
Been forever since I've been here. I'd say the sandwiches are pricey but they're the sandwich you wish the other guys made for you. There was so much pepperoni on my sub that my sandwich would have cost double what I paid if I tried to get the foot long place to make it. The catch a train here place wouldn't have even made a similar sandwich. This is where you get the sandwich you thinking of when you were thinking about a sandwich.
