July 4, 2022. My family and I went to eat at Casa Real. We were regular customers here, use to love going to eat there. How ever this day we got to the restaurant and it was packed with people. We figured we would have to wait a little while to get our food, never expected a two hour wait. After about an hour the waitress came by and told us that they only had one person cooking that day. Because we go often and we love the food we decided to wait. After two hours waiting for a meal we finally got our dinner. Only to find half of the stuff that we ordered was on the plate. When I questioned the waitress she told me that they were out of a lot of stuff in the kitchen. I figured they weren’t going to charge us full price because we weren’t getting a full meal. However to my surprise they had the nerve to charge me extra for sour cream. I had asked for the sour cream because they were out of guacamole and my meal was supposed to come with guacamole. My husband‘s meal was supposed to come with a salad and they were out of salad and never offered to substitute it with something else. I understand the situation like this happen however, After sitting there for two hours watching so many people leave very upset I would’ve never expected to be treated that way.
They choose when they want to close. 9:42 pm and we wanted to place a carry out order. They refused and said they were closed. If you want to close at 9:42 then put 9:42 pm on the sign.
The absolute best Mexican food I've had in years! I've lived all over the US, my family basically lives off of Mexican food hut this will stand out in my mind forever! Going back to my now home state VA tomorrow, but I will 1000% be back to eat here ASAP
I love the atmosphere, the food was good, and the staff was friendly. However one thing left me feeling ripped off and I would not be likely to return. We both ordered Margaritas we did not watch her make them we took a sip and immediately noticed it tasted like just sour mix we thought maybe they were just a little weak we didn't want to complain . when we ordered our next one we watched her make it she grabbed the one gallon of sour mix filled up our Cups did not add any Triple Sec or tequila at all. My mother did not want to complain she tried to convince me maybe they added a little tequila beforehand but if there was any you certainly could not taste it ... we sat there during dinner rush and watched them make many Margaritas just pouring sour mix not adding any tequila ... at the price they charge for the margaritas that's pretty ridiculous in my opinion.
Took my family here, wasn’t all terrible hence the three stars but could improve a lot. First is took quite some time to get seated which is fine except how many employees just walked past with out even acknowledging us. When we finally got seated the waiter was fast to get our drinks. I ordered a regular margarita on the rocks and as a bartender it was the worst margarita ever. It was clearly all lime juice and sour mix. My husband and I couldn’t even drink them. The food was really salty which I don’t mind so I ate it no problem by my husband couldn’t finish his food. My daughter got the cheeseburger and it was burnt on the outside but still really red on the inside. Overall not the best
Casa Real bills itself as an authentic Mexican restaurant. Visited with my family of four while staying at the Kalahari water park down the street. The place is nicely decorated and we were seated promptly. Chip and salsa appeared quick, good chips and salsa was rich served in a flask to self-pour into dipping dishes. I had the enchiladas supreme which had four rolls of chicken, cheese, beef, and bean with an authentic Mexican sauce, lettuce and tomato with sour cream. My boys had the enchiladas verde which was nearly identical to mine but with their green sauce and rice. My wife had the shrimp burrito, and we had the guacamole dip as well. All the food came quickly and was nicely prepared and tasty but nothing exceptional. The price was super reasonable and a much better meal than anything we could’ve had issue the Kalahari where the food is crazy expensive. Apologies as I didn’t take any pics of the food, just the one pic of the salsa flask. Overall the food was good but as mentioned nothing stood out, granted we orders just simple plates as it was. Good food , quick service and reasonably priced.
Very good food, margueritas and daiquiris! Great service. Only issues were it was little tight in the dining room and the tables are almost too small for 4 adults' meals. Would visit again.
Really enjoyed the food, service, price & ambience of Casa Real. Service was top notch & the food was VERY good plus the strawberry margaritas was outstanding. The salsa with the chips, mild, however ask for the "good stuff" even Mrs.Turtle tried it. Definitely a go to Mexican restaurant in the Sandusky area.
Got a half pitcher of strawberry mango margaritas and it was delicious! The cheese dip was super good too. We got the appetizer sampler and everything on it was delicious. Service was not good. All of the other waiters seemed to check on their tables every few minutes. We seen our waiter 3 times total, to take our drink order, food order & to pay. Never once checked on us.
What a great place. Nice change from eating in at the water parks. Meal was spot on, drinks were great as well and the staff, very prompt and courteous.
