When Tekela first opened it was great. For several years there after our family has enjoyed their food and staff. These last few times we have gone there to eat or picked up a to go order. The restraunt is dirty. The wear on the place is showing. The staff is no longer happy. They male you feel as you are a burden. The food has gone down hill. The platinum margaritas were awful. ( we have drank these sense they opened.) We will no longer be regulars.
Overall my experience was generally positive. The service stared kinda sub par at first. Had appetizer with no chips and empty drinks. I think the server could pick up on my festering frustration. Was able to turn it around and all was well. The food was fresh, warm and tasty. First time I have been here in a long time, but will have to return sooner than later.
This was a very poor experience. I went out to dinner with a party of 6 adults and 1 infant. Some of our group had ordered before we had all arrived. That was thier prerogative. However the one order did not arrive until about 45 minutes after it should have. She was told repeatedly it was in process. It was not obviously. Several other dishes should have been identical but were not Parts were missing from each dish. My own dish while still tasty was cold. Not icy but no where near hot. They made a production saying it was hot when they placed the plate in front of me. It was warm but NOT hot. I had ordered a chicken enchilada with a side of beans and rice. The manager did take off the dish that was so late. That was all. Also disappointing is that they add a tip on to your bill without your knowledge. They do not mention it. It is simply there. The kicker is that I would have tipped more then they added even with all the issues, If they had not forced the tip upon me in a devious way.The only positive thing? They did give a military discount.
Used to be one of my favorite places for mexican food. Lately, it's been extremely hit or miss in food quality and seems to be falling off as a whole. This past order the chicken was extremely dry on both my burrito and my partner's fajitas. Probably will go elsewhere from here on out. Will miss their Shrimp Quesadilla though, that is usually amazing every time.
We heard from our kids who live here to only order drinks here. We went with great anticipation for the FAB margaritas that we heard and read about. We walked in tonight and sat at the bar for 15 min (bar closed in 40 min when we arrived). After asking a waitress in another room where the bartender was I was assured that she was doing something important in the back. I watched and she was talking with the dishwasher. We ordered two platinum margaritas. After the first sip I got up looking for more lime since this margarita was given much higher marks then any spring breaker would give it. Yes it had a strong taste but very very sweet. I asked my Latin wife if she thought it needed more lime and she laughed and said ‘of course’. So here is the funny part. I asked the bartender who never even brought us a cocktail napkin for more lime juice. ‘There is lime juice in it!’ I asked again for LIME JUICE snd she said that they made it. Not seeing any lime trees outside I asked for the third time for more limes. Then she told us that what they put in the drinks was lime mixed with sugar. OK, I said, that is simple syrup, we need lime. Long story short. The drinks here are strong but are not authentic at all. The bartender did not give a crap whether we were happy or not. A much better option is either Cinco de Mayo or San Marcus.
Excellent food great drinks!! Our waitress was Cory not sure spelling but she was awesome!!
If you are looking for some delicious Mexican food this is NOT the place to go. Save yourself a trip and search elsewhere for some authentic Mexican food. First and last time going there, didn’t even eat all the food and was not worth even taking it home.
Let me start off by saying the food is so flavorful. Every single thing we ate tasted amazing. However, the chimichanga I ordered while delicious, barely had any chicken in it, and it basically had an entire roughly chopped green pepper in it. My husbands quesadilla was very tasty but had hardly any cheese on it. Maybe we’re just picky. Either way we’d definitely come back, the food was flavorful and the drinks fresh and well balanced!
We had great service, considering we were sat in the bar area. Bar was full and bartender was fantastic tending to our party of 6 as well as taking care of the bar.Food came out timely even though there was a large party in the dining area.
Food was great chips and salsa good chorizo dip amazing ordered the California club sandwich it was delicious ,. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with menu recommendations,. Would be a good motorcycle ride this summer to visit since we're out of Towner's ..
