Wanted to like this place but the employees have made it hard. Visit was on April 14th and the girl behind the counter had the personality of a pet rock, didn’t even say a word when I walked in, after a couple minutes of silence I asked her how she was doing and she said I will be with you shortly I have three orders in front of you. Must of been online orders, I was the only person in the place. I asked if my daughter could grab Ice Cream while we waited and she replied we don’t have that anymore, I inquired as to why would they get rid of it and I got a one word answer “Covid”.The food was alright but cold, no taste to the ribs not sure how they smoke them and not get a smoke flavor but it wasn’t there in the ribs or brisket. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen the very wrong choice in hiring but Im not going to get into the last experience. This place will be out of business soon, what a Ridiculous excuse to get rid of the ice cream machine that the kids enjoy. The people who own this place cant care, it would only take one undercover visit to see how bad it is.
Oh dickeys, what happened to you? They use to be so good. Now the food is cold, the restaurant is dirty, and the last two times I went they didn't have sweet tea. They used to be worth the price, but not anymore, especially with mission bbq right down the street.
Cold leftovers? Friend and I went in for lunch. I asked about the brisket. Counterman pulled two small chunks of meat out of a warmer. Both wrapped in Saran Wrap. The best looking of the two meats was pulled pork. Ordered the plate with sides, friend ordered a sandwich. Back at the table I took a bite of pork and it had that day old refrigerator taste. Slaw was OK. BBQ beans were as good as comes out of a can. Friend had no comment on his sandwich. I’ve been to the Dickey’s in Mentor, that food was much better. Honestly, the poorest BBQ experience I’ve had in years. Also you may not want to dine in cause your clothes will have an acrid smoke smell when you leave.
For the price for the Pull Pork Plate. The pull pork was tasteless. I feel that all bbq plate should automatically get two sauces which will help add extra flavor. The macaroni and cheese did not have any flavor. It taste like a can of cheese pour over macaroni and that's it. Maybe try putting it in the oven.
Got a slab of ribs $28.Meat not so lean. Soft and moist tasted like it's oven baked sealed in saran wrap/foil.
Very disappointed. Just picked up dinner for 4, spent $65.00 and threw almost everything away. My husband pulled a bone out of his pulled pork sandwich and my sons brisket is nothing but a pile of fat. No sauce was provided, after I paid extra for more than one. Will absolutely take my business somewhere else.
Not a good experience at the Day Drive location today. Bought two 2-meat plates for dine-in, and what little brisket we were given was fatty (some people might like that, but we do not!) and it wasn’t even heated up. Even the onions tasted like they’d seen better days. Very disappointed. Didn’t bother to mention it to the two people minding the store, because we heard them complain to each other that they “hate when they only have two people on the weekend”. I get there are staffing issues everywhere, but we were the only ones in the place at that time.
Ordered off their app. Used the $5 of $25 promotion. So my total on the app was correct went to the store to pick up my order and it was the full price when I asked why the employees told me they have nothing to do with the app. Total scam.
I have been here plenty of times and I honestly must say yesterday was the worst experience ever! I ordered 2 pounds of brisket @19.95 each and it was cut into big/thick slices, didn't look done, overall presentation was just horrible! I live almost 30 minutes away and my mom asked me to go there because she really loves the brisket, what a disappointment to travel that far and spend almost $60 and it was terrible!
As a conscious consumer, I try my best to support reputable and honest small businesses. My review is a result of a very unacceptable transaction with the owner, Nelson. He purchased plants from me for his business. I stated many times (in writing) what the price was for each. He met my husband at our honeymoon as I was at work. He took advantage of the fact I wasn’t home and took more plants than he paid for. Upon asking that he pay for what he took, he told me he didn’t want them and I’d need to drive across town to pick them up from the restaurant. His lack of integrity and disrespect he paid to my husband and myself will certainly be a reason that we will never recommend this establishment.
