First time and it was impressive. Server was fantastic, food was fast, hot and fresh, prices are right and delicious cocktails! Great spot for our girls night.
I ordered the salmon. Grilled. It was extremely overcooked and mostly flavorless. The rice pilaf was the same. Absolutely flavorless.In other news, the grilled veggie skewers were DELICIOUS.Service was also lacking, we sat for nearly 15 mins before anyone arrived to offer drinks.Wasn't terrible, but I probably won't go out of my way to go back to this location.
4/21/22 Filthy now! The tables were so sticky, your hands stick to them. Mentioned to the manager (after paying - wasn't looking for a discount and he told her this). and was given a apathetic brush-of by the manager. She said, "Yeah...We've told corporate and we know it's bad..." Then walked away. Don't give excuses without even an apology -- Clean your restaurant.---Original review:We have been to this location through its many incarnations, starting with Casa Lupita, to Golden Hunan, to the Grille on 21st Street to its current business, the Old Bag of Nails. Have to say, this is the best one yet and I think they are destined to be a staple in our town. I hope so, anyway!The food was great. We got the fried button mushrooms appetizer, $6.99 (less $2 for happy hour, 5-7 PM). They were served piping hot. The batter was crispy and the mushrooms were just right. The horseradish dipping sauce was great with them, though I would have preferred just a little bit more horseradish in it. The fish and chips dinner, $13.99, was wonderful. It included two huge pieces of fish and a generous serving of steak fries. The fish was crispy on the outside and came apart in tender flakes when we cut into it. On Wednesdays, they offer this as well as shrimp and chips as all-you-can-eat, but we were both done after the first round and didn't take them up on it. We also had and a couple domestic draft beers, $2 during happy hour.Our server Ashley was cheerful and made sure we were happy. She worked there when it was The Grille, too. We mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and when she brought our check later, she brought out a piece of their awesome house-made carrot cake as a free dessert for us to split.We will definitely be back!
Fish and chips is really well done and large portion size. Good selection of beers on tap. Servers are friendly and efficient without being overbearing.
Waited for awhile to see if a greeter would come to seat us, but after no one showed up, we figured we were supposed to seat ourselves since it's a pub. We were seen to once we found a table, but we were asked if the seater had forgotten the menus ? our bad I suppose. We shouldn't have seated ourselves, but we didn't see anyone or a sign that said wait to be seated.The service was good and it's got a nice old feeling with stone walls and wood bar. Some of the other patrons were loud when it came to a sports thing happening or others let their kids run around screaming. This isn't the restaurant's fault, but if you wanted to know if you could watch sports, and have your kids with you, then you're looking at the right place. If you don't like loud sports people and kids, maybe go after dark when the games are done and games are over. But you'll be with the drinking crowd then.Overall, great place and the food was very good. Fish was juicy cooked well, hot, and fresh. Just need to make sure there's a staff member for seating. I believe we saw five staff members on the floor, but only saw two people actually working which was one of the servers and the bartender. The other three... well, not sure what they were doing really. The one server guy seemed to have been running himself ragged and the bartender was busy with his own customers at the bar. Would have been nice if the others could help, but maybe they couldn't?
Our party was huge and our decision to go here was very last minute since our first choice (in another city) had a last minute power outage that made them close. Our food was good and hot, but it took incredibly long for some of us to get. I believe if we had planned to go here and called ahead earlier in the week, maybe they could have staffed and planned accordingly. The staff was polite and helpful and really doing their best. The parking lot was 100% full, so they must've had a full house and our giant party to top it off. I cannot imagine it was physically possible to serve that many people any faster than they did. A little patience goes a long way in times like these. As far as the facility goes, the women's bathroom was clean and nice, the quality of their tables and chairs and the overall atmosphere was exceptional. I felt safe and comfortable. I think the prices were average and reflected whag you expect at that type of place. Our party had a great time! Also I'd like to add that even though this place has a bar and serves alcohol, we did see other families there with children and I would say overall it is most likely a family friendly and welcoming place for all. (I say most likely because I only went once and our party did not have kids with us. The table next to us did.)
I love the food at this place. But its always a toss up if you will get good service or not. Hadn't been there for 6 months as our last visit was so bad. Last time after waiting an hour we asked for the Mgr. The mgr told us to leave if we were unhappy. So we left hungry or I should say hangry. (Everyone in the restaurant was asking where their food was.) Which left a bad taste in my mouth (pardon the pun) This time was much better. Nice polite server, food came out quickly and was very good. But like I said you never know which you are going to get. Great service, or no service at all. Its a shame since the food is so good
Got a shrimp po boy that was amazing!! What was even better than the food was the excellent customer service. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and left with no regrets (except I regret that I didn't get any pics of my delicious food before I ate it).
We were just there today. Feb 1st 2022. We had the best server! His name was Steven. Ask for him. He’s amazing. The food was fantastic. There was five of us and we all got fish dishes. The fish was fantastic! Steven you’re the best.
This was my first time eating at this place. It is a bit of a mixture between southern food and New England food. All of the adults had smoked meat sandwiches the and the kids had chicken strips and we also all shared traditional wings. The sandwiches were great but the batter on the wings tasted like fish. It was as if the were using the same oil from both sea food and non. The server was very good but the food took us an hour to get even though there were not many people there. It was due to the shortage of workers. I would still recommend this place for food and looking forward to visiting again so I can maybe get a better idea of their service.
