Just left Prohibition at the Caverns. What an experience!! The caverns are amazing! The food is so creative and delicious ! It is worth every penny. It’s a must do if you’re in Mansfield!
Very nice wine and whiskey bar/restaurant that serves American style food. The owner takes pride in making and bottling their own wine. Very affordable bottle prices for dinner, and they will help you pair a wine with your dinner choice. The quality of food is outstanding, and the menu changes with the seasons. Great location for both casual and private dining experience.
This place is very professional, knowledgeable, and spotless. The restaurant owners were very kind and welcoming as they mingled around the tables. The food was very original and I found out the restaurant rotates the menu every few months. We will definitely be back. Pictured is the Salmon with arugula and a Platform Martian Sour
I've eaten here three times. The 'fine dining' is not worth it. At 50 dollars a plate, on average, and a dress code, your food should be great. My scallops and risotto were not. Overcooked scallops and greasy risotto. There is a great restaurant, 2 blocks away, with the same atmosphere, more consistent food, and no stuffy dress code. The wine cellar? 100% worth it. Go, have a good time.Edit: regarding the dress code portion of the the Owner's response: since I was single out over the dress code, I'm going to have to disagree with the 'lax' comment.I doubt that I'll be back for the fine dining. It's just not worth it. The prices do not reflect the food quality. Especially when less expensive establishments in the area are pumping out the same quality, and don't ever impose a dress code, even during dinner.H&E just feels a little out of touch with people younger than Boomers.
Service was extremely slow for a midweek lunch. The server seemed fine so I'm guessing the delay was from the kitchen. They claim that they offer fine dining but my meal was anything but that. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, just a good order of fish and chips. The fish was dry and I don't know what they were trying to accomplish with the dill fries. They were like a plate full of grease-soaked kettle chips that were left in the fryer too long; crunchy but without any flavor. The coffee was served in a double-walled glass cup so again I don't know what they were trying to accomplish. Beer and wine belong in glasses, coffee doesn't. Gimmicks come and go but good food and good service last. Work on your food and service and your customers will continue to return. People will eventually get bored with the gimmicks and go somewhere else.
I took my parents to Hudson and Essex April 30th for my fathers 70th birthday. Upon reserving our time, I made note that a member of our group had a nut allergy. The hostess confirmed this with us before being seated. The member with the nut allergy ordered a Blackberry and Bourbon to drink but was served a Black Walnut Old Fashioned. The server realized her mistake and came to swap out his drink. Unfortunately, he had already consumed about half of it, we had already placed our dinner order, and we had already enjoyed our soups. We hurried through our meal so we could get home in the event he had a reaction. The manager stopped by to offer a complimentary "nut-free dessert" which we did not take her up on. As our members nut allergy is severe, he does not partake in desserts at public establishments. Often times dessert ingredients are processed in facilities that also process nuts and are therefore not safe. The member was already experiencing itchiness so the offer of dessert was insult to injury. We will not be recommending Hudson and Essex and informed our other family we will not be returning. As an experienced restaurant/bar manager, I was surprised this establishment is not better informed on food allergies nor sufficient in customer service. If this had happened while I was a manager on duty, his meal and drink at the very least would have been comped. Mistakes can happen, but it is what you do to fix them that matters. My father's 70th birthday dinner was reduced to less than an hour from time of order to the swipe of our credit card.
This was a nice restaurant with good value and quality in 2021. Not the case in 2022. Cocktails way expensive for what you get. Same for food. Granted it’s likely the best restaurant in Mansfield. But it’s attractiveness now exceeds its grasp. Too bad.
One of the best dinners we have had in a very long time! Gorgeous renovated and restored Hudson Essex automobile dealership that has been turned into a wonderful restaurant. Extensive wine list and beverage list and a top-notch menu. If you are in this part of Ohio, make a reservation and enjoy a wonderful meal in a lovely setting! Highly recommended.
We have been here multiple times while passing through North Central Ohio. The food is always great! Love the atmosphere and the modern theme intertwined with the throwback feel. We have dined upstairs ( fine dining- dress code) and have slid into bar spots in the Cypress Hill Winery section as well. This time around, We were pleasantly surprised to find out; it was music trivia night!! Very fun. Stayed for part of it and completely recommend it for friends, couples, singles, and families! March has new specials which were very very good! We tried the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Pastachio Dessert off the new menu, along with Japanese fried Chicken and Broc.( off the regular menu) With the chocolate cake- Booooom !! A+++ Fauci was no where to be found and Dewine was in hiding. Very calm and relaxed evening at H&E. Service is always good. A very clean establishment as well as friendly owners and staff. Keep up the good work.
The food was very good. I got the brunch bowl and my wife got the 4th street salad. Friendly service and the owners are walking around greeting everyone. However, what prompted the 3 star rating was the fact my wife salad came out 25 minutes after the rest of our food. And do not order the Olive Assortment for $5... it's not an assortment. It's just a bunch of pitted black olives in a cup.
