We enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere and friendly service. I had the ham steak with pineapple, Mac n cheese, and broccoli, loved it. My guy had the sliders but they were dry and not impressive. Drinks were good.
This place was an experience. I took my daughter on a college visit at Kent State, and when I told a friend that we were going to be in Kent they said "You HAVE to eat at Mike's Place." So we headed there for lunch after her campus tour.When we pulled into the parking lot, we weren't sure where to look. Eclectic doesn't even begin to describe the exterior. We parked and went in. The hostess was very friendly. She grabbed two menus and said "follow me" and took off. We lost her. There are twists and turns everywhere, around the very unique seating areas. We were seated at a table in it's own little alcove that consisted of a huge polished slab of live-edge tree with a bench on one side and two enormous thrones at either end. Broadswords and family crests on the wall, and a half scale suit of armor standing guard next to the table.I had to idea what to expect when I opened the menu, but I wasn't prepared for the dozens upon dozens of choices in front of me. I'm fairly confident that anything I could have wanted, they offered on the menu. All day breakfast, lunch, and dinner and everything in between. I quickly became overwhelmed and put it down and picked up the lunch specials menu. I ordered the lunch-sized Reuben and fries (if that monster was the lunch size, I'd love to see the full size), and my daughter ordered the chicken po' boy, which was roughly the size of a human baby.Food was delicious. Prices were great. Food came out fast and hot. We entertained ourselves by reading the menu and placemats while we waited. Be sure to check them out. Very good experience. Will definitely be a staple for our family visits if my daughter ends up at KSU.
my wife and I eat here and we were impressed with the building, the service, and the food. we stopped for dinner on a sat. & it was busy but we didnt have to wait for a table, and our waitress Magen was very good . We will be back the portions were big and the price was fair. A huge menu. I would say visit this place its fun.
This is an absolute MUST visit! I suggest going at non peak times just so you can walk around the restaurant and enjoy and appreciate the artistic flair of the owner! So let’s see-my favorite thing about this place was the menu! Hands down! I wanted to keep it- but there was a warning about not stealing the menu’s -so i guess i ain’t the first to think it ! I LOVED the decor! Loved the items for sale! and mostly we LOVED our food! You absolutely must get the Rueben (see pictures below) If we weren’t just passing through- this would most definitely be a weekly staple!
Always good food and LOTS of it. Place is always fun to visit and has the coolest menu and decor. I’ve had a variety of things from here over the years and have never been disappointed. Service is always friendly as well. This time we got the “frelvis” banana and bacon stuffed pancakes with peanut butter to spread on it, also the “The belly buster” meal which has a little over everything on a giant platter
So the place is cool. The menu is funny but overwhelming with all the options. It's kind of like have a lot of things but not great at any one. The food was ok. Nothing great. Got a drink at was not great, the pizza fries where ok but too much sauce on them. The apple grilled cheese had a ton of apples and probably would of been better had I not had so much apples. The "I stole this from a Chinese restaurant" which is like the KFC chicken bowl. With chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy over a biscuit was ok. I didn't get gravy but again nothing to write home about. I think the reason to go is the atmosphere and not the food. Disappointed ?
A great place to to have a delectable meal! Most portions are huge. I ate my smoked brisket sandwich minus the bread. My husband had their all day breakfast meal. Such an eclectic decorated atmosphere! You cant go wrong when going to Mike's place.
Ordered beer. Price not anything close to what was on menu and wall poster. Been to Mike's for decades Very disappointed. Probably won't be back. Sad to see false advertising.
We've been wanting to eat here for years. Finally made the trip, and it will be a one and done. It's vey eclectic, pictures and items covering the walls. There is a huge menu selection, and the food was pretty decent, we all had. sandwiches. My order wasn't correct, our service wasn't good at all. She would drop off a refill and leave before you could tell her you needed something else. It took 3 tries to get an extra water, I'm not sure if they were short, but you usually get asked if anything else is needed before they run off. The portions are huge and the prices are decent, just didn't love the whole experience. But it was packed, and they seem to get good reviews, just not our deal.
the food was very good. very large portion for the price. busy place has a little bit of wait time. but well worth the wait. nice wait staff
