The place was hot as heck! No air, and the staff was sweating. That means touching your face and putting on gloves without hand washing! Young staff, but kind! I finally found an establishment that had good ribs, so that was a plus!? The brisket was good, but a lil cold . Young man replaced it promptly and was very kind about it! Turkey is good .. better tasting cold after being refrigerated. The fries were delicious and also I love their horseradish sauce! When I asked for it to be cold the young lady looked at me surprised and said... It's supposed to be cold. I told her other places have it sitting out.. she exclaimed.. ' that's why we're the best!'??. And the lemonade and sweet tea ( Arnold Palmer) was delicious! I had to buy a gallon!! Yum ?. I'll drive there again, as I live about 30 minutes away... Get the air fixed though!?
This was the worst bbq I've ever had. I ordered the bbq brisket sandwich. The pic on the menu shows sliced brisket and I received what I guess was chopped, it looked more like pulled pork. The meat was dry, there was no fat, no bbq sauce and the bun was oddly soft on the inside and hard around the edges. City BBQ had been recommended to me when I was in Indianapolis but unfortunately I didn't get to try it then so when I got the opportunity I thought why not. I don't recommend this particular location and the next time I'm in Indianapolis I'm gonna try the one there to see if there's a difference.
Went on a super hot day. Was hoping to walk into ac but no it wasn't working. It was so hot in there. If you never been before ordering is a little confusing. Everything is pretty much alacart. I order a $10 sandwich and they ask what kind of side I wanted. I said fries not knowing I would have to pay separately for them and my drink. $10 sandwich though it would come with a side. Anyway that didn't bother me to much I was just upset that I was asked what side when 1 didn't come with. Brisket sandwich was awesome. Fries were hot but looked like they were cooked I'm old oil. Pop was weak. Like not enough syrup.
CONSISTENCY! That's important. Food, cleanliness, service. I know exactly what I can expect every time. The BBQ is not Columbus best, but Top 3 for sure. I love the fact that they have smoked turkey. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out. Most Columbus BBQ shacks only do turkey wings. I think it's important that you are presented with the meat naked of any sauce. Most of you will say DUH, but know there are plenty that don't. It stands up on its own. Love that smoke ring and bark. Everyone of the meats have been wonderful. Check out Tuesday "Buck a Bone" night on ribs. If it's busy, watch the weigh. They have shorted me twice, but corrected it immediately, once while there, and once from home on my scale(next visit). The prices are always right in line for BBQ. I would be re-miss if I didn't stand up and salute CBBQ for their Veterans Day special for veterans. I usually join a group of vets here after a big morning of ceremonies. Handshakes, and sincere Thanks from the staff to all vets. Decorations make it feel special. They have even taken care of a few of our spouses as well. I think I have had almost all the side dishes. I have my favorites. I love that the green beans are so well seasoned. The baked beans have chunks of brisket in each portion. The mac n cheese is creamy. Sauce.. Regular, Sweet, and Brushfire are all kept in a warming station out at the customer condiment station. That is a HUGE bonus in my every opinion. Adding cold condiments to hot food is a no no. I think of it as lazy. You have to ask for the honey mustard bbq sauce. I was never sure why it isn't out front. It's my wife's favorite. We have tried others in shacks, stores, and restaurants. This is consistently her favorite. Myself, I usually get a bottle of Brushfire to go also. I think most will enjoy the condiment station, with the tool box of packets, or the troughs of pickles(blech). Tip for you- If taking a sandwich home, ask for the bread on the side, so it's not soggy from all that moist meat juice. Next Tip- Get a dessert. You may think it's just standard fare, but people will often ask "did you get the...?" The cobbler, pudding, and cake are delicious
We waited over 20 minutes for a naked pulled pork, lolo pulled pork corn bread and bake beans. We received a plain pulled pork sandwich not the Lolo we ordered. We were we thought about going back up and telling them it was wrong but did not want to wait another 20 minutes. The restaurant was dirty both trash cans were over flowing. There was enough staff someone could have changed out the trash cans and wiped down the dirty table.
Amazing hush puppies and banana pudding every time.I normally eat the pork but this time tried the turkey taqo.. and it was good.Everyone is always nice and always working hard...
Pulled pork and baked beans are superlative but I find the brisket to be too dry. Their original sauce is the real thing but for the sake of variety the other sauces are interesting as well. The place is always busy and the staff is so friendly. Portions are large but dessert is very yummy if you have the room.
Ordered from them months ago had mold on the bread. The sent a credit I gave them the benefit of the doubt and Ordered again. Pork was very fatty, mac and cheese was cold and tasted like refrigerator, banana pudding was gritty, corn pudding had lots of hard kernels. French fries were great but won't be back.
This was a disappointment. We didn't get one of our sides. We asked for extra crispy fries. We ended up putting the fries in the air fryer when we got home because they were soggy at best. We asked for the Judges sampler. They said we couldn't order it because the were out of pork and ribs. We asked if we could substitute something in place of those meats and they said no. So we ended up ordering 2 city samplers. Most of the staff (teenagers) were messing around the whole time were there. The cashier at the time took someone's order and asked if it was dine in or take-out. They said dine in. She proceeded to tell them they were closing in 10 minutes and hope they could eat fast. The customer said I wish I would have known that to start with. We love the food, but the staff and service was not at all what it should be.
We had a door dash order and it was a really big order too. They say they had bagged the order was terrible!! The one bag was leaking really bad. My daughter went back in and got another bag and after she put the leaking bag inside of the new bag it continued to leak on me and all over the car. When my daughter was taking the bags to the customers house she had one hand under the continuoly leaking bag it burned her hand. It was the greens that were keeping. When they had those orders they need to put this kind of situation into consideration. Be more mindful City Barbecue Please!!!!!!!!!!!
