I've been wanting to go to Slyder's Tavern ever since hearing that they were awarded Dayton's best hamburger. I got a mushroom and Swiss 10 oz Burger and onion rings. The burger did not disappoint and was cooked just as requested. It was delicious. My wife got a chef salad and it was enormous and loaded with meats and cheeses. She said it was great. I love the ambiance of the dimly lit old tavern. In addition, our waitress was fantastic. She was very outgoing and pleasant without being overwhelming. Perfect visit, we will be back.
How have I lived in the Dayton area and not been here? Atmosphere was pure Dayton. Made me feel like Tanks/any dive bar in the area. Burgers were good, but the servers and the atmosphere were what makes this place. The bartender and the servers all worked together and were almost fighting each other to serve us, all on a crowded Saturday night. Would recommend.
Great food, especially the burgers. However, the owner may ask you to move to a smaller table if there are only 2 of you at a 4-top table and there is a larger party waiting. Seriously?!! This is a tacky thing to do! He doesn't want to lose the business coming in the door, but he's losing the business of those he wants to move! Doesn't make sense. It's unlikely we'll be back as this has happened more than once.
One of Dayton's best kept secrets. The service is amazing, and the burgers are even better! Cooked to temp. I had the patty melt and my friend had the bacon cheeseburger. His was a perfect medium well and mine was a perfect medium. His wife had the club sammy which she was very happy with. Splurge on the house made Onion Rings!Very small space with very limited parking so plan accordingly. We went for a late lunch around 3:00 and the place was pretty full. We took the last parking spot.11oz burger was 9.75, rings were 3.00 Warped wing on tap at the bar. Very clear why this place has been in business for 70 years! Does not take reservations but if you have a party over 4 you might want to call ahead so they can plan for you.Friendly dive bar atmosphere with amazing burgers, what could be better?
Service was amazing! We sat at the bar and ordered drinks, fried mushrooms to start. For dinner I had a patty melt and it was cooked perfectly, with amazing rye bread toasted to perfection. Fries and onion rings were crispy and hot! My husband ordered the French dip that also was very tasty and delicate, very surprising for bar food. Overall facilities were pretty clean but an update on the facility would be a good idea. Parking options on a Friday were limited.
10oz Mushroom Swiss Burger with fries. Cooked to perfection. 10/10.Service also 10/10. Friendly, helpful wait staff.I'd have taken one star off the rating for the size of the establishment given the crowd and the cramped parking situation but the food/service was just too good for me to really care. Definitely a must eat in Dayton.
I was telling my mom that there seems to be a correlation between the attitude of the staff and the tastiness of the food at the restaurants we've gone to lately. Slyder's Tavern just cements that theory for me. The server was professional, friendly and fun. The food was just flat out delicious (we both had the HUGE mushroom swiss burger). The tavern was very clean and had a relaxed, familiar atmosphere. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Slyder's.
2nd time here, and nothing has changed. It's a very overrated place with a big, AVERAGE burger that taste just like it would if you or your mother fried it in a skillet at home. I guess some people are just astonished that it's a little bigger than the bun and ignore quality or especially taste. It's ain't Five Guys, Smashburger, E.O., or even Bunkers or Red Robin.
Great food, great employees! A real hometown tavern. Best wings in town! The Giuseppe Burger is awesome! Great prices!
Was super excited to try this place after being recommended by multiple people. However, my experience was less than ideal. Some extremely rude staff and unclear pick up directions. Usually I’m all for giving a place two chances, but the food was not good, burnt potato skins, and meh wings. I won’t be returning, go down the street to Angie’s for great service and good food.
