This place is amazing!!! From the outside to the inside. The entire place was so laid back, friendly, calm, warm atmosphere!!! The wait to be seated was short for 2 of us. The menu was a nice size. All of the food sounded good. I could not determine weather to go with something usual or something out of my normal. I went out of the normal and I was not disappointed at all. I had the triple delight which comes with chicken beef and shrimp mixed with vegetables and rice. I had the wanton soup. It had so much flavor in it. We had the sushi sampler. All I can say is delicious!!!!! Mom had the orange chicken with egg soup and 2 orders of crab rangoons. These are now my new favorite crab rangoons out of all of the places that I have been to. This place has quickly shot to the top of my favorite of restaurants list. I anxiously wait to go back again. The staff is very good at their job. I never felt rushed here. Time seemed to have stopped sitting there eating. I could have sat there for hours taking my time. Make sure you have a jacket as it was decently chilly in there. This is a casual place. I felt a little under dressed for shorts and a t shirt. If I had had on dockers or khaki shorts maybe. This is a great place for a date or a family outing. I highly recommend this place if you love this style of food!!!!! Thank you to our server, the cook and everyone else that made our experience such a wonderful experience!!!!!!
The atmosphere was calm and welcoming. The presentation of the food was very nicely done and colorful. Most of all it tasted good. Our server was very good at serving us. I took my son there for Father's Day and he loved it and he ran into a friend of his who he had been trying to find. We will go there again and tell others about this place. Thank you.
No longer will we be customers. Shen’s used to be one of our favorite sushi spots, but after tonight’s experience we will spend our money elsewhere. Our server should’ve been upfront about the 2 hour wait for sushi instead of fibbing about our sushi being made right away and that he was going to stand up there and wait for it. Then, the excuses started once he realized the sushi wasn’t coming out.Our appetizers and non sushi meals came out right away, so kudos to the kitchen staff.Just before the sushi arrived the server told us since we order so much sushi (8 or 9 rolls between two checks) it was all coming out on a boat and they wouldn’t separate the orders. I feel since there were two different checks the food should have been on separate plates.Once we got our sushi it was all mixed up on a boat and the server couldn’t tell us what was what, and they didn’t bring any smaller plates or soy sauce bowls. Our checks were also mixed up.By that point I had lost my appetite and patience and asked to speak with the manager. She too took a long time to come to the table. When she finally arrived she didn’t even let us speak. She went directly into her well rehearsed spiel and was very unapologetic. She could’ve at least acknowledged our frustration, especially when we’re spending over $250 in one sitting between the two checks. The almost three hour dinner experience should have been handled differently. We won’t be back.
I want to preface this by saying we had a large group of 17. We had reservations and were seated right away. The drinks and sushi/appetizers were good. Although I'm told the draft beer came out warm, so they switched to bottled. The lavendar martini was phenomenal. I tasted the tempura shrimp sushi and the Dayton sushi. I would get them again. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai. I thought it was okay. There were a few folks that didnt get at all what they ordered. We had 2 servers, one for each side of the table. Getting our checks was a debacle. We essentially had to reorder so he could ring it up. And it still wasn't correct. We were there almost 4 hours. And not by choice. Having said that, we weren't upset by it, we were a bunch of folks celebrating, but we did have to change plans for the rest of the evening. I guess the takeaway is if you have a large group, be prepared. I would give them another try with a smaller party.
This was the first time in the last time at this restaurant. All the food was burnt. I made the manager aware and he did not do anything about it just looked at it. I would say for the price and the food quality is not worth it. And I will never be back. The only good thing I can say was our waitress was nice.
UPDATE 12/2021: Nothing has improved. Amazed this place still exists. Avoid the sushi as it's not fresh. The squid salad terribly fishy and the texture stale. Hot and Sour soup flavorless and too salty. Spring rolls full of filler and flavorless and can't be saved even with the nose clearing hot mustard or sweet duck sauce. The garlic beef was too greasy and the flavor profile and textures completely not proper. Eeyore gives zero tail wags. An hour after eating his tail fell off as his head hurt from sodium overload and his rear end blew wing so hard his house of sticks was blown apart once again. Do yourself and your health a favor. Go elsewhere...FIVE YEAR AGO ORIGINAL REVIEW: Not sure how the good reviews. Service was marginal with drinks not refilled and one dinner arriving with another arriving 5 minutes after. The hot and sour soup too salty. The squid salad dry as if from from a grocery store. The sushi dry and small pieces lacking proper flavor. The kung po was too salty and greasy. Definitely will not be returning anytime soon There must be much better places than this in the area.
We don't live close to North Dayton so I try to make it a point to stop here when I am in the area, especially after coming home from the airport. Sushi is very good as are their steamed dumplings. Tried the Cheng Du Pork and it was quite good. Service by Bryce was very good.
Soooo disappointed! I've been wanting to go here for a while. Ordered kung Pao chicken and sesame beef, both extra spicy and volcano roll. Everything was bad.... Not just not good. For$75 I expect excellent this wasn't even acceptable. Ended up throwing it out. Sushi was fishy,. Beef had no flavor and kung Pao was gross. Neither was spicy. The rice want even very good. Spring rolls were ok. I've never had Chinese were everything was so bad ?. I'll be calling for a refund(never done that before)
Food is good, fast service, usually no wait.
We stopped by after a quick Christmas shopping trip! We ordered Madeira chicken and orange peel chicken, fried and white rice, hot and sour soups. The waitress was super busy but took care of all of our needs very efficiently! The food was delicious and hot simply amazing! Can’t wait for the next trip!
