I ordered carry out and this was the worst seafood I’ve ever had. The food was bland and tasteless. The pasta was dry and the shrimp was unseasoned. Every time I’ve ever ordered calamari they come in round ringed pieces or small pieces. These were the biggest unseasoned strips I’ve ever had and because it was served with marinara, it resembles more of a mozzarella stick. The fish in the fish tacos was dry and bland and the cabbage was old and brown. I will not be going back to this place ever. Best seafood in Dayton my a**!
Great atmosphere and great food. I got the fisherman's platter with swordfish instead of cod. The salad before the meal was the most delicious salad i have ever had, and all parts of the meal were great. The swordfish was really good, the scallops were insanely good, the shrimp and oysters were solid 10/10 delicious. I also got a piece of lemon cheesecake for dessert, and it was the best cheesecake i had ever tasted.i will definitely come again
Fish of the day was over cooked and they weren't super flexible about requests. (Honestly for the price the entree gets 1 star)The desserts were amazing (5 stars).Venue is pretty cool.Evens out to an eh experience. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing.
The food was great. Only issue I had was the extremely long wait to get our entree. Another issue we had was our server did not come back to our table to check on us to see if we would like another drink and to just give us a status update on how our food order is coming along since it was a lengthy wait. It was Mother's Day though. Why I gave four stars instead of three. Please, next time if there is a anticipated lengthy weight, it would be nice just feel us in on the status of the order and refill our drinks.
Bread had no flavor.. butter was hard as rock! Need to use olive oil with flavoring. Salad was excellent with lemon dressing! I ordered salmon. I give it a 5, BUT pairing it with mashed potatoes and purée sweet potatoes… not! Thus give this meal a 3! My husband ordered walleye. He said it had hardly any flavor. He gave it a low 3. Service was excellent tho. Won’t be back.
Received a friendly greeting upon arrival an instantly felt a welcoming and easy going atmosphere. The food was equally refreshing and relaxing. The house, front to back made it seem like I'd been here many times before...bravo! I had the Signature Spinach salad which had an amazing dressing but the bacon stole the show. And the Poke & tomato ? appetizer was spectacular. Can't wait to go back to try the scallops!!!
I love Jay's. Great atmosphere, beautiful bar, great food, fresh seafood! On this particular evening I had the crab rangoon with real crab to start and split with my friends. For the main course I ordered the baked wild caught cod with a baked potato and house salad with blue cheese dressing. The cod was light and flakey, well seasoned and I enjoyed every bite. The baked potato was cooked just right was perfect with a little butter, salt and pepper. I ended up splitting a chocolate mousse with a couple of friends and it was off the charts delicious too.
Have not been to Jay's in a while and decided to go there tonight. I sat at the bar. As always, the food was great and my server (Bob) was excellent and paid attention to every detail! The atmosphere and service reminded of the excellence Jay himself provided back then. My evening culminated in discovering a $68 parking ticket fine on my windshield ... since I had not been to Jay in a few years, the courtesy or welcome lady (Jeannie) proceeded to take the ticket from me and says she will handle it! Amy, thanks for continuing Jay's tradition of providing great food, excellent service and great staff!
The food was very good. We started with the shrimp cocktail. They shrimp were HUGE. The two of us got 6 thinking it would be like other places. I wish we had gotten 4. But they were good. I got the grilled pepper tuna rare and it was very good. Their homemade blue cheese dressing on the salad was great, too. My girlfriend really loved the Greek style swordfish. We finished it off with some crème brûlée. Overall, it was a hit! We’d definitely go here again.
Seat and service was good but our food on the other hand was not both of out lobsters were hard as a rock and steak had no seasoning whatsoever on it. For our anniversary Dinner we were very disappointed not to mention the 175$ bill for a meal that we could of gotten a lot cheaper and better somewhere else.
