First off I love this place. Prices are great, employees are friendly, food is wonderful and the atmosphere is quiet and laid back.No loud music. This is my choice Sunday spot to eat. After working long hours Saturday and being awake for 24 hrs every Saturday into Sunday for work, this is my place to refuel without spending a ton of money and feel at peace while eating.Much of the clientele seem to be older I'm noticing more families coming in to enjoy a nostalgic favorite from my childhood. They did take away the all you can eat salad bar that use to be in the dining area now it's in the line after you order and pick out your dessert, just before the drinks. The steaks are not over seasoned like many chain places. And their baked potatoes with bacon and cheese sauce are absolutely delish.
York had come highly recommended from several sources as a good old school steakhouse. So I selected it for my birthday dinner. From the labyrinthine entrance, to nobody at the order station, to nobody at the register, first impressions were not good. The sign on the door about bad drainage in the restrooms with a plea to use them only if necessary was a weird alert. 2 of 3 steaks were cooked wrong. Decent meat, salad, and roll. Okay onion rings, the tbone was WAY too thin. Considering the strong recommendations that led me there, I am tempted to try again. But with money tight and the fast that it's on the opposite side of town, I doubt it will be anytime soon. I am so disappointed!!
The first it started off a little rocky we had six in our group and had to send back four steaks when we got them some weren't very happy somewhere all in all it ended up really good we all ended up with a good steak great company great waiter Caleb he's been there for a year and a half he done a fantastic job putting up with all of us we will definitely go back he made it very enjoyable food was great once we got it all right we'll go back great prices t-bone steak you'll have to try well worth the price
Phenomenal!!! Just like I remembered. My entire family raved about their meals. I had the sirloin tips with steak fries. My wife had the half glazed chicken. Both dishes were so good. We will definitely return!!
Beyond our expectations! The food…delicious, the service and staff…impeccable, the atmosphere…straight up 80’s and cozy, the prices…can’t be beat! The portions are huge and unlike everything else in our world, it’s family budget friendly. Last but not least, I’ve never seen a restaurant this clean! CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!
This restaurant has a special place in my heart. My family has been going here for as long as I can remember, since the 1980s. I also used to go here with my friends when Westland Mall (which was across the street--now a dead mall) and Media Play (a defunct book/music/video game store from the 90s) were both still open and active. Often we came after a shopping trip or hanging out at the arcade at the mall. There are so many great memories associated with York Steak House. The crazy thing is, this place is exactly the same (and that's a good thing). It hasn't changed one bit. There is the same calming decor, the same excellent menu, the same salad bar, the same desserts. It's timeless, the pre-internet days of dining frozen in amber. I'm sure that is a big part of why I love this place. Still, the food is also really good, unpretentious, fresh, and flavorful. It's a classic steak house. Although I sometimes get their grilled chicken with montreal seasoning I usually stick with an 8oz ribeye with steak fries (photo included). Newcomers should know that you order in a cafeteria queue. You place your order, and then take your tray of eating utensils, beverages, and napkins to the table of your choice, and then the wait staff brings your food in due time (often quite swiftly). This is such a great place. Pure Columbus, Ohio. I love it so much.
Growing up in the 80's, I went to York Steakhouse in our local mall. I had always loved the way it was cafeteria style and you could choose your desserts, sides, etc. It was always a treat to go there. When I found out there was 1 remaining York Steakhouse left, and I would be visiting the area where it was located, how could I not go? Upon entering the restaurant, the menu was on the hallway walls, just as it was in the 1980's. Same menu items, same decore, same wonderful smells! Our chopped steak was just as I remembered, cooked perfectly, and with the grill marks. The salad bar is super fresh and has a lot of choices. The desserts are all home made and look wonderful. Never having been able to find chocolate pudding as good as York Steakhouse's, it was a no-brainer that was my choice. It was just a delicious as I remembered. The staff were all very pleasant and checked on our table often to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I was so happy to have been able to come here again. It brought back a lot of nice memories from my youth and I would love to be able to come back again, if my travels bring me close by!
It's all good! Love the 70's family steakhouse vibe.
Great food and great service!
