The food was delicious and our server was very nice and patient with our group. I have visited Way Down Yonder several times and brought a cousin for her first visit. She really enjoyed the wings, catfish, macaroni and cheese and dirty rice. We'll definitely be back soon. This has become one of our favorite places for good southern food. We are country folks and it is hard to find in Columbus.
The joint did not have the old Long John's Silver look or feel. It was a vibrant and colorful place with a very authentic mural with a great NoLa look and feel. Even the sticky floors reminded me of the south. I had the Chef Special and the catfish was juicy with a great thin breading. The wings were supposed to be hot and spicy but tasted more like sweet and spicy. The gumbo had a excellent tasting thin roux with yummy sausage and chicken. However it was missing a bit of the holy trinity with no okra or celery. I was a bit disappointed. Yolanda was a great host and is the reason for an extra star and a half.
The place is a bit worn and the decorations are over the top. Too much going on on the tables but overall the dish I got was really good. Their famous punch needs some adjusting. It was made with kool aid and cheap juices.
Great 1st time at Way Down Yonder. The waitress was wonderful. My wife had the shrimp and grits, and I had a shrimp & sausage po boy with a side of dirty rice. Both were excellent and portions where substantial. We look forward to returning and trying everything on the menu.
Plucked straight out of New Orleans — the real New Orleans, not the touristy Bourbon St version. Love everything about this place and the food is unreal. Service is great, folks are so nice. It takes some time for food to arrive but everything is from scratch and 100% worth any wait. Portions are huge so expect to take home leftovers! So happy to have Chef Yonder in town!
It was my first visit and I have the shrimp and grits, catfish and some cornbread all the food was really good and good portions.
Some of the best crawfish étouffée I've had outside of Louisiana. Even though they were busy, the staff were extremely friendly. Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu! Definitely recommend.
Food and service was excellent. To dine in you must make a reservation. When we arrived they called us by the reservation party name when we got to the door and had our table ready. The service was excellent and the food was perfect.
The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. I always enjoy my visits to Way Down Yonder.
Lord have mercy. This right here hits me right in the soul. Last time I was in Louisiana I had some amazing gumbo and I was really missing it. Tried sooooo many places and just couldn’t find something close to what I had. But let me tell you. This place right here nailed it!!!! Even being delivered it was amazing. Next time I am going to dine there in person to experience the full thing. Highly highly recommend this place!!!!
