Reservations for a 7 top were for 8PM and had received at text confirming and stating that we had the table for 2 hours and the party would not be set until everyone arrived. Fairly standard at nice restaurants. Everyone arrived a little early and were told the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes, so we all went to the bar. It was pushing 8:45PM when a table was open and we were set. A special occasion with 2 birthdays in the family and an almost 3 year wait to visit what had been a favorite restaurant of my parents. Dad had past and Mom's birthday wish was to have the family all remember the past with a visit to their place. Service was dreadfully slow with soup and salads taking another 45 minutes and then about another 30 for the entree. Steaks were good, sides ok but I think the main reason for this review was the surf and turf. Mom and my husband both ordered the surf and turf. The top version has a filet mignon and lobster tail. Market price ended up at $95 each. The lobster tail was rubbery, tough and without flavor. Not wanting to make a scene and with the meal not arriving until well after 10PM they did not complain until later. My husband said it was the worst lobster he had ever had and that included a meal at Red Lobster which was our first and last visit to the chain. Too bad the Top did not add to the fond memories my parents had of the place that started around 1959 and continued regularly through 2010. The place was busy and good to see business is hopping but not sure we will return. Most disappointing was my Moms birthday wish was so much less than she had hoped. Good family time together but instead of remembering a great night we will remember a long wait and terrible lobster tail.
It's been a while since I'd been to The Top, but I reserved a table for a special celebration recently because I had such wonderful memories from the previous visit. Reason for the celebration was noted in the reservation note. Yet, they stuck us in front of the kitchen door. It was very loud and distracting and totally ruined any cool ambiance I'd remembered from my previous visits. Steaks were very good. Dinner salads were, too. Broccoli side included *one* floret. Appetizers were ok. Server was attentive, which I appreciated. But overall just a very disappointing experience. At the very least, I wish they would have let me know about the terrible table placement after receiving my request, as it should have been obvious that there were elderly people in our party. That honesty would have gone a long way.
Well we tried the Top and it was kind of underwhelming to be honest. The wait was long. Our reservation was kicked from 730 to 8pm but we were given complimentary drinks so that was nice. My steak was overdone (not medium) and the sides were just not good :-\ the mushrooms were odd tasting and the green beans had too much bite. The staff was very warm and nice. The restaurant itself is clean and the asthetic is nice but it's very loud inside the dinning area.... Especially when they are busy, you can barely hear your own conversations so that was not very pleasant. Another issue is the closeness of all the tables, staff often running into each other and nearly on top of each other when just walking down an aisle. All together the people working there? 5/5. The food? 3/5. The environment? 3/5.
I say none of this lightly, I honestly enjoyed coming here for years but I think I am done. Four generations of my family have come in and ate here since the 50's. The last 3 times I have eaten here they have really messed up our meals (all 3 were birthday meals). They keep saying they will do better but they don't, they just keep getting worse. Tonight everyone else ate as I sat, salads were bad, too much dressing on all so we didn't finish those, I gave mine back after 2 bites. When my Ribeye came out they tried to pass a NY Strip off as a what I ordered and tried to make me think I didn't know what I was talking about, by the time my order came out everyone else was about done. No one received their butter or sour cream for their baked potatoes, had to ask another waitress to bring us some. Most of the food was cold due to waiting on items to be dropped off or never coming at all. I think I am just done and I never thought I would say that. I don't know what the problem is, management acts like they care but never follow through with giving good service. The manager that worked tonight never stopped by even though he looked in our direction and passed by us multiple times, again, just don't care.Update, it has been since 8pm and now my better half has been throwing everything up, I think it was the salads, there was something not quite right with them. Great way to spend $250.00.
By far the best steakhouse in town!! Everything there is completely fantastic! If you're not sure what to get close your eyes point to a few things in the menu and I guarantee you'll be happy! My personal favorite is is the New York strip With Oscar style topping and the oysters Rockefeller! A good Chardonnay with your meal oh and their old fashions are top notch!
If you want to feel like you’re in an episode of Mad Men or in Frank Sinatra’s private lounge, this is the place for you. Outstanding cocktails, live piano playing and that dark supper club ambiance. The preservation of its original 1950s glamour and fabulous food are just two of the many reasons why it’s one of my favorite haunts. The Top never disappoints. Excited to try out the new patio this summer.
Been here a handful of times throughout the years. Came again tonight with family for our annual Christmas Eve, Eve dinner. Our meal was fantastic and our service superb. Probably the best visit I've had.

I work for public health, for some reason during a pandemic this already very expensive restaurant decided to not help people with the pandemic by forcing people to come in to eat. And then lying about it, they told us they cancelled this practice in July but we had ordered after July. We have the highest transmission rate in Columbus that we have ever experienced, and this restaurant decided to not allow take out. nice. I will gladly give my $100+ prices for meals to other restaurants that care about public health. The prices were already outrageous, but add arrogance to this main street restaurant and good luck with your business. We supported you through this pandemic now you don't want to support us. We won't be eating there again, in person.
