When I say this food is absolutely AMAZING!!!! It is !!! Especially the ; lamb chops and greens and so much more ! Keep up the great work! I drive miles and miles to eat here. Never have I been disappointed!
I actually intended on leaving a 5 star rating for the speed and service until I got in the car and looked in my bag. I purchased a 4 PC perch dinner for $13.99 and when I tried the yams...excellent, hotter than expected which prompted me to open this box to leave the initial rating that I intended to. The rice was great too...but then I realize I have 3 pieces of perch where the menu (and SEVERAL of them) clearly says 4 pieces.I go in and let the staff members know that I only received 3 pieces and the lady from the drive thru window explains to me that if the pieces are bigger they only give 3 sometimes. Then the gentleman that took my order came in and sat in front of the menu and said "it's only supposed to come with three, she made a mistake when she put that on there" however I am not at all reimbursed in any fashion for receiving 75% of the fish that I paid 100% of the price for. I at least expected something not excuses in a place of business. Not even a free drink or something? I've received that just waiting somewhere for an extended time. Really? My first and only visit and it's a shame that a business would try to swindle customers out of their product that they pay for with excuses not written in any form or fine print.TERRIBLE TERRIBLE business. Kinda makes me wonder why she insisted on tying the bag after I'd already been reaching for it...I'll add...the solution to this to run the business CORRECTLY would be to offer THREE PIECE perch fish dinners and if they're too small GIVE THEM AN EXTRA PIECE, don't swindle people out product that you have NO IDEA what they went through just to be able to receive. Seriously.
Staff was very nice and friendly! I’d order the rib dinner with Mac and cheese and yams; whereas my mother ordered the chicken dinner with greens and Mac. The Mac and cheese was very salty and greasy! The greens was very salty! The yams looks and taste like they were over cooked in the oven… too much water/very soupy! Chicken could use more seasoning and different flour/ batter!The best thing I had was the Turkey ribs! Very good flavor!I really hate doing reviews because my honesty sounds malice but I promise I’m giving constructive feedback. I love seeing young men trying; in which the owner is most definitely doing! Keep going for the stars sir! Minor issues =easy fixes!
Not the soul food I’m used to. Wanted to like this place but I didn't Enjoy one thing about the meal. The salmon was the smallest piece I’ve ever been given at a restaurant and was extremely dry. The greens were so salty that none of us could eat them. The jiffy corn bread was dry and the potato salad tasted like the whole container of dill fell in. My dad loves potato salad and took one bite and wouldn’t eat anymore. Wish this experience would have been better.
On 5/15/22 spent $43 with them..called to say the greens were to salty to eat..the slice of pie was was about 1/3 the size of container..the chef or whom every said they were fine...needless to I won't be back and this was my 2nd time there..seem not to care
The food was amazing!!! Best greens I've ever had (please don't tell my mama ) We tried everything... I got the sample platter because I couldn't decide and it was well worth the money. The fish was fried perfectly and the lamb chops were so uniquely seasoned and were tender and delicious. The macaroni and cheese and cornbread were also heavenly. My daughter got the jerk chicken and candied yams and those were also tasty. The jerk chicken was so full of perfectly smoked flavor and had the elegant touch of pineapples that had us feeling like we were on an island vacation. We got the peach tea which complimented the dishes and the perfect ending was the rich and creamy strawberry crunch cheesecake. Everything was top quality and we will definitely be back!! The lady at the window was probably the sweetest most friendly person I've encountered in years. Everything was perfectly packaged and our order was exactly what we ordered!! That's rare these days! Give them a try you won't be disappointed!! Love love love!!! Keep up the excellent work... You can taste your passion and love for sharing your talent through your food in every bite!!! I went through the drive thru and ordered the brisket dinner. Despite the wait time, it was well worth it! The staff was friendly, they are generous with the portion size, the food was hot and the brisket was tender. The mac n cheese was bomb and cabbage was on point. This is the best soul food restaurant we have in Columbus hands down!
First, let me just go ahead and put it out there that the food without a doubt is good!! My husband had The Sampler with Steamed Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, & Cornbread while I had Perch with Collards, Mac & Cheese, & Cornread. The portions were great and as I initially stated, the food was good, but our Perch was really over- cooked "Whiting". The Collards were really "Mixed Greens", and the cornbread could have been a little less sweet as I wanted some Southern, homemade tasting cornbread versus a cake taste. We're from the Dirty South aka Alabama so I was looking forward to some real live Soul Food. Again, the food was good, but that was our experience there today. We'll return but probably won't order any fish.
1st time trying yesterday. The mac n cheese was really good. The greens was good too, but something was missing idk. The chicken was nice size and good. The cornbread would've been really good, but the bottom was a little burnt. I'm just mad about the cheese cake, definitely not worth $9.99. I came in the night...maybe that was the reason for slow service. They did seem really busy though. Overall, i'll definitely try again ??
