Disappointed overall. There was no indoor seating despite the very large area for it within the "restaurant." So if you can't snag one of the handful of chincy tables outside, I guess you have to try and eat your lunch standing. Ordered #37 and it came without slaw. It was supposed to have corned beef but I think it was roast beef, as my husband had corned beef on his sandwich and it was totally differently. Mine was tough. There was a very small amount of meat, granted I did get the "small," but for a $14 sandwich, I expected more. I tried the soup because it was on "best thing I ever ate." The broth had a sour flavor and had way too many noodles. It was more like a side of egg noodles dressed with chicken broth. My husband did enjoy his #29. However, for a $40 lunch....I won't be back.
Not what it used to be. Disappointed with the quality. No where to sit inside and it wasn’t very clean. Hope they get things turned around… a classic place
We stopped here for lunch on a weekday and had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it. They currently only have outdoor seating, but all orders are packaged as to-go orders. Lots and lots of sandwich choices, but they have salads and desserts as well. The staff was very efficient.
Probably the best Reuben sandwich I've ever had. The atmosphere was great and they have a huge menu, so everyone will find something they like.I downgraded it by one star because the service/staff kind of act like they're doing you a favor by taking your order. It's one of those places where you're reluctant to ask a question about the menu for fear you'll be embarrassed by a snide answer.
I have ordered the same sandwich from this deli for over 25 years and though the size has decreased and the cost increased, the taste and quality has remained supreme! This store has an eclectic mix of items to buy and actual pickle barrels but not open to the public anymore—you can taste the difference. It’s pricey but worth a visit and taste.
Awesome Deli!! People were great and the food was delicious and comforting with old world feel. They have assortment of cheese, meats and breads and much more. Not much parking around the area but we were lucky enough to get the spot in front of the store. We had the Reuben, marinated herring, latke, and motzo soup. I also learned that Bill Clinton had visited this establishment as I seen his pics on the wall.
That sandwich was second to NONE! Awesome location, I mean, stop by just to see the interior! Big deli, and a ton of options! Even if you're just there for a quick bite. Was NOT disappointed!!!
Quality and consistency issues! This restaurant was considered a Columbus tradition for decades. But over the last few years we've not had a quality meal for the high prices charged. With each visit the amount of meat on a sandwich has declined. We gave them one last try on 12/7/2. We ordered two #1's and one #29. 2 of the sandwiches were half filled with fatty inedible cornbeef and none of the sandwiches had the complimentary pickle. We spent almost $50 for low quality meat and an incomplete order. NOT WORTH IT!! Not sure why they have sooo many people working there....apparently none if them can properly fill a simple order. We're done with them!
I met a lady while riding the COTA bus who suggested this place. We decided to go together and split a Reuben it was absolutely amazing. I had to take a couple bites before I could even get a picture off. Thank you baby girl I will remember you always I wish I would’ve got your number.
It is delicious; I've been looking for a good deli since I relocated to Columbus from NY and Katzinger's is it. The sandwiches are large, fresh bread and cold cuts, fast service and a great variety. Thank you!
