Nice old-fashioned diner specializing in all-day breakfast. Everyone in my family got pancakes except me. They enjoyed the pancakes. I got the special of the day, country fried steak and over easy eggs. This was very good.I also enjoyed the impressive number of the old Ohio State University football programs hanging on the walls.I would definitely return.
My fiancé and I came here after work around 8AM for breakfast and I was so disappointed. We had below average food with below average service. Although it’s in our area I would never come back. I understand it’s an older restaurant, but it should at least be clean. Also mixing dish soap with water to stretch the soap for the bathroom is so unnecessarily cheap.
I visited this Jack and Benny’s for the first time. We’re not local to Columbus and found them on Google. They had good reviews, so decided to check them out.We ordered a variety of items and none were at all what I would consider good. My son ordered biscuits and gravy. It came out a few minutes after the rest of the table (not a big deal), and the server joked about making it from scratch and that’s why it took a little longer, but then said “I’m just kidding - they’re frozen!” If your restaurant does nothing except breakfast food, why are your biscuits frozen? Moving on… the yogurt in the parfait tasted “off”, not sure how else to describe it. The pancakes? The blueberry pancakes were sour, the pecan ones were bland, the syrup was super thin and no matter how much I put on my pancake I could not taste it. Chocolate milk tasted watered down, looked like chocolate milk but no flavor. On a plus side, the French toast was pretty good. The restaurant itself is old. I expected that and actually looked forward to it. Typically, those old, kinda run down little hole in the walls have the best food. Sadly, this was not the case. And on top of that there is a difference between old/worn out and dirty. This place was both. It smelled old and dirty when you walked in, the bathroom was dirty, there was some type of old food or something on the basket for the creamers. Plus it was just very messy overall. We ate it, didn’t die, and will always remember to not visit again when we’re back in the area. Oh, and it took a long time for the server to get the check to us. I had high expectations for this restaurant, but left disappointed.
Clintonville staple and the best greasy breakfast spoon in Columbus. Old school diner charm, offering a wide variety of breakfast favorites. Good coffee and the fresh squeezed OJ is delightful! Be prepared for a small wait - it’s that’s popular and super close to campus.
We went in the early afternoon, it was slow which is unsurprising given the state of the pandemic, but the food was good as ever. I always get the Eggs Benny and my wife likes the Jack Buster. This place has some of the best gravy in the city.
Delicious as always. Try the Benedict with one of the best chorizos in town. Getting more expensive than I recall.
I've been wanting to try out Jack & Benny's for awhile now, and it did not disappoint! I got the Gutbuster, a peanut butter chip pancake, and some freshly squeezed orange juice, and all of it was fantastic. I will definitely come back again.
The food is reasonably priced and everything I’ve gotten I eat every bite. The food is made with love for sure. I always crave the French toast and the biscuits and gravy!
Fresh squeezed orange juice! Real fruit pancakes baked in! I love going here, great prices and great breakfast. The buster Douglas is perfect with the gravy on the side and coupled with a blueberry and apple pancake cover with butter and honey. The fresh made orange juice is the icing on this wonderful place.Service is fast and great in this old style dinner setting. I will be coming again and again. Ill get food pictures next time, haha, so good I forgot to. I came back a few days later and got the same thing: James Buster Douglas with extra egg and bacon with a blueberry and apple pancake! Soo good!Thank you to the owner and manager for this nice place. The redone menu looks clean and nice!
Very disappointed with the quality, presentation and flavor of our order. We have eaten here before and it seems to either have new staff or management. We ordered french toast, pancakes, hash browns, and egg sandwich. Paid over $3 for what looked and tasted like 1piece of dry toast dusted with sugar, the hash browns were oily mush, and the sandwich was dry and flavorless, the pancake was blueberry and it was sour. It would have been better if the syrup was actually sweet and thick like syrup should be. Even though our order was for pick up we were made to tip almost $4. The only thing my 1year old daughter would eat was the pancake. I normally do not leave an all around bad review, but this was the worst food experience I have had probably ever. I'm sorry Jack & Benny's, but you didn't even try....
