When I made the reservation I asked for a table that might be away from the noise, as two of our diners have a hearing issue. We were given. a lovely table in a little alcove and it was perfect! Andres was our amazing waiter and the food- every single item- was wonderful!
Candidly, this place used to be a lot better.If "steak" is in your name, overcooking by two levels should never happen. My rare steak came medium (and should have been visually obvious to anyone who has ever cooked steak. Seriously amateur move. Someone owes the farmer who raised that cow an apology.) The green beans were also served very under done. On a good note, the crab bisque was actually really good, and so is the sourdough bread. The crabcake was actually quite nice, with large chunks of crab, and a sauce that came with it had some mustard zing to it.Service was good, but not great. At this price-point, when steak is brought to the table, the server should be right behind it asking if it came out right, not a while after, when I had resigned myself to never having seen her again and just eating it anyway or be hungry as my table mates dined away.Watch out...they'll put a five year old wine on the list, and when you order it, bring you a two year one and charge you the same price. Vintages year over year are not the same, and this is absolutely bait-and-switch.All in all, a very poorly run restaurant, and one that has fallen from prior glory.One bright spot -- the bus boy was very funny, and he knows how to hustle. Maybe they should let him manage the place, fire the line cooks, and rework some wait staff processes.
My wife and I took our son here to celebrate his birthday while we visited him at The Ohio State University. Everything about the experience was exceptional in every way. The server was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The ambiance was warm and comfortable, and we loved the fireplace. The food and the food presentation were both exceptional, and I am very picky about both when I’m dropping that kind of cash. Prices were as expected, and reasonable. I will definitely be back each time I’m in Columbus and in need of a fantastic meal with good friends. Highly recommend!
We had reservations for 11 and they were ready for us and the servers kept up with us and the food was excellent, I had the ribs after a Cesar salad. Plenty of parking made it real easy.
1st time at your restaurant. The food and drinks are beyond perfect. My steak was cooked as i requested. RARE. I loved it. A lot of food I couldn't finishOne thing i can say, I love the fact that your servers are older adults not young kids. I wish all the restaurants would hire Older people to serve. I received the best Customer service from your employee, I wish I could remember His name.-ve Comments:They are too far from my house, I wish you had one at Easton :) But you know what I will drive there for good food.
Decided to have a romantic dinner for the new year. We started out with cocktails from the menu. I had the berry martini and my husband had the Mexican Poker Game or something like that. They were delicious. We had the Charcuterie Board for an appetizer and everything was wonderful. For our meals we had filets with sides and a bottle of wine that was amazing. Our filets were cooked perfectly to order and the sides were great. We had a lot of left overs! For desert I had the Crème Brûlée and my husband had the cheese cake as well as a nice port. Our waiter was wonderful and never left us waiting despite the short staffing issues. All of our food was wonderful, the atmosphere was perfect and we enjoyed a great romantic dinner. Perfect way to start the New Year. I recommend you give this restaurant a try and enjoy!
My daughter and I enjoyed our experience. Jackson was our server. He was both energetic and attentive. The company sent a birthday coupon making our experience even more enjoyable. We were also provided a dessert that my daughter loved. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

Went here to celebrate our wedding engagement! The server was amazing at taking care of us and the food was delicious!! We will definitely be back, pretty expensive but 100% worth it!!
The food, cocktails and hospitality at J. Gilbert's is outstanding. We have known some of the staff for years.The menu has remained the same since we dined there over the years. The bar has a different menu than the dinning room.The atmosphere is comforting with low lighting and fireplaces.It is expensive.
