Server was extremely nice, but food was slow coming out. Took about 1 hour from the time we ordered to receive our food. There were 4 of us, and 3 of us had gotten drinks. The only offer was to comp 2 drinks, which was a bit annoying considering we had 3 people drinking. Crispy skate was not good - do not get that when ordering here. Potato bread and fried oysters were delicious as usual. Will still go back, just not the best experience.
"Energetic" isn't the right word for the noise level. "Conversation-killing" is more descriptive. We had eaten brunch here before, and the noise level was acceptable. But we blame ourselves for assuming a Friday night in the heart of the Short North dating scene would be similar. Food and service were both very good, but we will confine our visits to brunch and lunch in the future.
Friday night 8/12 @5:30pm, not crowded at all. We were initially met with a somewhat cold greeting from the young gentleman that was the host, which was a total shock and not the usual CMR style. Next we were seated in a cafeteria style setting where thereâs a row of two tops so close that the party next to you is closer to you than the person you are with across the table from you. Very uncomfortable to have any conversation. Being members of CMRâs Club93, we donât expect a fuss to be made over us with banners and bunting, but we do expect a certain basic level of acknowledgment and appreciation as itâs not cheap. Known for consistently leaving at least a 30% tip, and sometimes a $100 tip, we took care of our fantastic waitress but the tip could have been more than it was if the overall experience was better. We saw managers and supervisors just chatting together by the kitchen and didnât once circle the dinning room to greet any guests. This was our second go at Del Mar SoCal Kitchen and our initial impression was confirmed on this, our second visit. Not sure there will be a third. So we left and went up to Lincoln Social and were greeted by every staff person, manager and supervisor. Five star LS, we greatly appreciated being able to sit in a booth. Cory our waiter is one of the best. Thank you!! You helped in the recovery of an evening that surprisingly started out disastrous.
Great happy hour deals and ambiance! Loved our window seat for a fun summer happy hour.
We love the fresh food and great seafood at Del Mar SoCal! Always a great place to dine and has many healthy choices & Great drinks!

we went for brunch and the food and cocktails surpassed our expectations. the kitchen was also very accommodating with regards to dietary preferences. the only negative would be the ceiling fans were turned up pretty high making it windy and cold in the restaurant. highly recommend.
