I had the bbq jerk chicken and the goat curry (spicy) dinners along with an extra order of fried plantains, 2 servings of coco bread, and their homemade cheesecake (no nuts). The bbq jerk chicken is oh-so-tender with a smoky savory glaze very reminiscent of southern bbq, and with it comes the red beans and rice, cooked mixed vegetables, hush puppies, and fried plantains. Of these sides, the fried plantains and the hush puppies were the most noteworthy for their very sweet or very crispy but soft texture and taste respectively. Do note that from my background I am used to seeing chicken cut directly through the bone and served as is, so be mindful of the little bone shards that inevitably make their way around but they are not such a bother tbh. The goat curry (spicy) was tender as well, but not as much as the bbq jerk chicken, and the curry flavor together was very delightful while having that little bit of spice that made it very well rounded. With this was just the red beans and rice and cooked mixed veggies (un-noteworthy). Lastly onto my extra order of 2 servings of coco bread, I regret to have found out they are indeed literally bread rolls and for $4 each I felt my money might've been better spent elsewhere on the menu although they were warmed up and of a respectable size. Perhaps you should spend the extra on plantains like I ordered which, if it's not your jam then definitely don't get the carrot cake because that was... Not a complete disappointment is the nicest way to put it. The hush puppies may have been a better sweet warm treat than that. Yeah, order some extra hush puppies with your jerk chicken and call it an amazing dinner. I didn't take pictures but the other pictures are pretty accurate. Except for one of the pictures erroneously labeling the jerk chicken. I hope I make my way back around these parts to try other things on the menu however because there's something genuine here you'll instantly recognize.

We attended Black Expollence and wanted to support as many food truck as possible. We were gravely disappointed. The food wasn’t fresh at all. The most disturbing issue is that the Mac& cheese was SPOILED!!!!! Which is utterly unacceptable and not safe! We should have taken heed when a lady came to get her money back and was livid while we waited for our order. We were mortified there’s a first for everything

Ava's is our spot for Caribbean on the west side. A quaint food truck nestled in the alley of Chase and Broad. The food is fantastic. Wife and I go here often. She is a brown stew fan. I get the curry chicken. the BBQ jerk is on point! ...Alot of food! Made with love. Ava attended culinary school and she is passionate about her food. Check her out!!!!

AMAZING Caribbean food. Jerk chicken is to die for! Always hot and fresh!

I ordered Rasta Pasta with Jerk chicken. It was plentiful, tasteful, and very hot as if it came straight off the stove. I loved that. The chicken was soft and flavorful. I would only note that it did not have the actual jerk seasoning but whatever sauce it was still tasted yummy.

The oxtails were fantastic! This is definitely the place to come here in Columbus. Even the beef patty and coco bread reminded me of New York. I’ll definitely be back and sending anyone who asks…

Thanks fo de food empress. That's the best Caribbean food in Columbus. I'm loving it. ❤️. God bless your business, your family and your life. #OGBY

Honestly, I come here as much as possible. I always love supporting other small businesses as I am an entrepreneur and well. besides that fact this place is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!! It is worth stopping & no one should be deterred that it's a good truck as there is also a brick and mortar she has right in front on where she parks the truck! #supportlocal #cantgetenough #jerkchicken #rastapasta

I ordered the oxtail dinner and the bbq jerk chicken dinner with a side of festivals and a beef patty and all of the food was amazing. I live all the way in Pickerington and our food was still hot and fresh when I arrived home. I will be back!

The food is delicious, fresh, and generous portions. I highly recommend the tofu and plantains.
