Just a block or two from a trendy warehouse/packing/whatever district full of clubs and high dollar gourmet restaurants, Karls Inn of the Barristers has a very low key and local feel. I went alone for lunch on a free day following a conference nearby and really enjoyed it. Yes, the price of the reuben might give you pause, but consider that its piled high with house made corned beef, not just purchased from a supplier and sliced. I assume it was the proprietor that waited on me and he was friendly without being over-attentive. I enjoyed my sandwich while taking in the great vibe of a tucked away local spot. Just what I was hoping for. The sandwich was great, served with good fries and thousand island on the side. (he said he can't put it on the sandwiches anymore because so many people don't like it, which I find bewildering, but so much of our world is these days.) Anyway, I enjoyed it very much and would certainly consider returning if I find myself in town again.

Excellent relaxed lunch near the convention center. Being from NYC, I have pretty high standards for corned beef and this didn’t disappoint. Suuuper thin and tender with great flavor.
The owner Karl is a very nice, funny guy. Nice pour on drinks and very good corn beef sandwich. One of the best I've had and I've gotten a few. Definitely will go back when I'm in the area again for lunch or just did an outing with my daughter so she can try the outstanding corn beef. Must try!!!
Just had a nice breakfast here a few weeks ago. Nice downtown spot to grab a drink and food. They have an upstairs for fine dining g and it is really beautiful. You would never know it walking in. Classy place and will go back again.

Best breakfast in the city. Huge portions. Nothing fancy but you get your money’s worth. Karl is the king of corn beef and pastrami sandwich as well. Got one for the plane ride home.
My son and I were in town for a baseball game. Walking around downtown we happened upon Karl’s Inn of the Barristers. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a Karl’s famous corned beef sandwich! Both were made to order… served fresh out the kitchen and delicious. We’ve found our new go-to place before a game! Friendly service from Karl himself. Excellent!!
We got a corned beef sandwich and 2 slices of cake. The service couldn't be any better. The food was perfect. Just like it always is.
