Like many restaurants, Johnny's service staff seems to be less experienced than in days past. Food is still a bit pricy but excellent and the tables well spaced and comfortable.
Food was really good, but our waiter was aloof and disinterested, never came to check on us, and presented a bill as soon as we finished our entrees without offering dessert or additional cocktails. Seemed in a hurry to get us out of there.
We waited 15 minutes after being seated and even then, had to ask who was going to serve us, before being greeted and given menus. There was confusion on who had our table, but one server walked back and forth past us 6 times (yes we were counting) and waited on two tables next to us (that were seated after us) but never even questioned why we weren't being served. Our server was excellent after he knew we were his table. On the food side, the short rib was very salty for me and I like alot of salt. This wasnt our first time, but I think it will probably be our last.
This was an excellent restaurant. Food and service was fabulous. I was dining alone and I felt very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the piano player who was especially entertaining and very friendly. I reside in NY and I know an excellent restaurant when I dine in one. I'd give it a ten (10)!
Johnnyâs Downtown is my all-time favorite restaurant! The food is outstanding and the service excellent. Highly recommend!
