My family has been ordering from Hunan for 30 years. I'm incredibly disappointed that the new management has completely changed every recipe and is now serving generic, fast food Chinese. Kung Pao chicken is no longer small diced, but in huge chunks and is half filler green pepper (which was never even a part of the old recipe). Sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, and fried rice were totally dried out and clearly not fresh. Beef with snow pea pods was 75% pea pods and carrots.Management: Please go back to the old recipes! Hunan was a Cleveland Heights institution with standout food! I cannot fathom why you would change everything. You may be saving money on food costs, but it won't matter when you lose all your customers. Maybe listen to all the negative reviews from your once loyal customer base instead of writing snide responses--it's a bad look.
Bummer. Different ownership and you can taste the difference. I ordered w/ UberEats and everything came fine on their end. The food was delivered hot with the correct items. Unfortunately the food was not good. The vegetables in my dish tasted bitter (sour-like) as well as the sauce. Wonton Soup was good but that’s about it. I’m sure I will give them another chance and credit this to an off night… one very off night.Response to owner: my taste is just fine, thanks! You had a bad night, it happens. I will continue to come back and support.
Experience:The wait time was less than 10 minutes, and the owner gave us water while we waited! The place was super clean and covid safe.Food: my orange chicken was 10/10. Probably the best I’ve ever had. It came with the sauce separate, so the fried chicken was crunchy, and not soggy. It was so delicious I cannot even explain in words! Also…. The EGG-ROLL! The best crunchy layering, with the soft veggie inside was one of the best I’ve seen.Price: my orange chicken, fried rice, and egg-roll was $20. Worth the cost and taste. This place is professional and authentic.
Ordered my food at 4:35. Was told that it would be ready at 5:10 for pickup. It is now 6:00 and it is still not ready. They keep taking more orders. No regard for the fact that they can’t keep up with the orders they already accepted. Poor service. Not to mention that their waiting area is now crowded with people in the middle of the omicron outbreak. The only bright side- my food was good. They just should have stopped taking orders.
Ordered shrimp fried rice paid $2 for extra shrimp only to have 5 shrimp in the entire basket! I would hate to see what it would have been without the extra! Not the same Hunan! Has got to be under new ownership, locals beware
We had a very enjoyable dinner. The food was well prepared, the prices reasonable, and the service, very good. We also ordered some take out for the next day…and we had the best pot stickers we’ve ever had in the Cleveland area. Looking forward to our next visit.
Food is amazing, staff is very friendly and attentive. We ordered General Tso chicken, shrimp fried rice and beef broccoli. Everything was great and tasty. Highly recommended !
I have been eating at Hunans for over the past 20 years. Whoever the new owners are have totally changed the taste and the quality of the food. They were known for their fried rice with all the veggies. Yesterday the rice had peas and a few onions. The beef and broccoli taste like it was made with a cheap roast. This will be my last visit there.
Absolutely phenomenal, every time. Honey lemon chicken is to die for!
I have been a customer of Hunan Coventry for many years. It has Aalways been considered by me to be the best. Last night, my husband and I got take out. It was beyond disappointing. None of the sauces tasted the same as usual, and the vegetable fried rice had no flavor. I will try to take out from there one more time, but it will be quite some time before I do. I hope that the original chef and recipes return.
