Update. We usually enjoy this diner. However as we were getting ready to leave on 5/14/22 after lunch, there was a man sitting at the table closest to the entrance with a dog. Not a service dog. The man fed the dog some food with his fork. He seemed like a frequent customer because one of the waitresses sat down at his table. This is disgusting and should not be allowed by Gus's.
Bacon, egg and cheese croissant was buttery and absolutely delicious. Bacon and eggs cooked to perfection. French fries are like Rally's on steroids and the jumbo gyro was savory and memorable. Comparable to Steve's Gyros at the West Side Market. Low price for great food. Love this place.
I am from Cleveland and remember dining at Otto Mosher's several times before they closed in the mid '80s. NEVER have I EVER had a corned beef sandwich as good as theirs since. Well...not until I dined at Gus's Diner 185. Man, their corned beef sandwiches beat Dale's on 200th St as well as Slyman's downtown. The amount of corned beef on their sandwich's for the price is unbeatable too. And talk about their breakfast and lunch selections......no other place around beats the quality, prices or service that Gus's has. I highly recommend breakfast AND lunch/dinner at Gus's. Been going there for years, and have never had a bad meal. And I know I'm safe there because there's always cops in there eating the good food.
Stopped here on way back to NY ...went on Google to find a restaurant in area..this one had a good review on yelp. We were very pleased with service and the food was amazing. Had only a minor issue with how we asked for our hash browns to be cooked crispy and they weren't...our server tended to our table throughout our meal...if in the area I would suggest stopping there..
Eggs were so hot it literally burned a hole in the to go container.Been eating here my entire life. Hope something changes.
I enjoy going to Gus’s on East 185th. The wait staff greets you when you enter the restaurant. The service is quick and efficient. They don’t rush you. They take time to have a conversation with you. They check on you often because to them you matter and is worth the attention. The food is reasonably priced and delectable for the amount you receive. Thank you to all of Gus’s Wait staff and Owners for such a great start to my day and many more to come. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
I should clarify: This isn't 5 star gourmet food... It IS one of the best places to get lunch on the East Side of the Cuyahoga River however. The food is delicious, the salads have a great blend of lettuces and raw spinach. The best part is really the daily specials. My personal favorite is the mushroom swiss burger, fries and choice of soup or salad, for under $7. They have many daily options, but that's my favorite.Definitely recommend. Food per dollar can't be beat. The atmosphere is basically a family diner. Come hungry and bring people.
Great diner. Fast service. Great staff. Very reasonably priced. Way to go Gus's! You are popular for a reason!
The food wasn't that good. I was a little disappointed for eating there for the first time. I don't know if I will be back. My steak and eggs were completely over cooked, and I really wasn't impressed at all for the over all experience
