One of the most well known spots in Tremont and right off W14th, Grumpy’s Cafe has been around for over 20 years under the same owner. It’s Sunday brunch is the most popular with generally a line outside to get in on Sundays. I’ve known the owner Kathy (who is great) since before it moved from a small converted house and expanded to its current location with multiple rooms and enclosed patio to handle its growing popularity. It is only open from 7am to 2pm.Below is their Steak and Eggs (which is not always on the menu) along with over easy eggs, their signature Cajun home fries (which I get plain because they are a bit spicy) along with rye toast. If you go to one place in Tremont for breakfast or brunch, this is the spot to have a high quality food experience combined with great service.
It was our first time here and we brought some family from out of town. The coffee was good and breakfast was hot and filling. I got the sausage gravy eggs Benedict. It was delicious. I also tried the apple walnut French toast off my boyfriend's plate and that was very good as well. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast. Will definitely be coming back for breakfast treats.
Awesome small local cafe. So glad I found it here on Google. Stopped by on my way out of Cleveland. Got a omelet and French toast. Their home fries seasoned in the Cajun seasoning were really good. I'd definitely stop by if your looking for a great meal. The staff were nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Food came out faster than I had expected. Stop in, might be your favorite restaurant.
Omg. The menu looked so good, I had to get two entrees to try a bit of each. The huevos rancheros were EPIC!! Get the chorizo to dump on top. Totally worth the $5. The Porky omelette was filled with tons of porky goodness, topped with cheese and a spicy bbq. So good. Kiddo loved the waffle, which is always good with such a picky eater!! The staff was great and our server, Kim, was on top of everything and suggestions. Thanks!! Will totally be coming back here when I’m back in the area.
Modern and chic little diner. Wide variety of dishes to try. Everything is fairly priced and you get a really good quantity of food for your meal. I got the huevos rancheros and they were delicious. Salsa and the bean mash was super flavorful and very filling. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to check out a great Cleveland staple. Just make sure you give yourself enough time, since people know about this place and you will most likely have to wait for a table.
This was our 1st visit to Grumpy’s. We read great reviews and decided to give them a try. We were seated right away. In less than 1 minute, the waitress was at our table, coffee and water. I ordered the Reuben Omlet, my wife the Sausage/Gray/Benedict. Quicker than Ronald McDonald, our food was served and absolutely wonderful! The menu has many other offerings that we will definitely be back. Five stars for Grumpy’s!!
Here during all star weekend! Large portions and I’m from the south so flavor really matters! Everything was great. French toast, omelette, chicken Philly and grumpys special
One of the best spots in Cleveland for breakfast. Come here just for the Cajun potatoes.
My friends and I went to Grumpy's Cafe to celebrate her birthday. She wanted breakfast and her mouth was watering for a good Belgian waffle. I love waffles myself and was on board with her. I had been to Grumpy's before and knew it to be a good restaurant for breakfast.Unfortunately, the Belgian waffles were not that good at all. They use pancake batter for the waffles. NOT SO GOOD! The toppings were amazing and they look wonderful but I just could not get used to that pancake texture for my waffle. They also came out cold so they had to be remade. The service was excellent. No complaints there, and the rest of our breakfast was also very good. But, the restaurant choice was made because the birthday girl wanted waffles and that's where Grumpy's fell short. I would go again but just not for their Belgian waffles.
Perfect breakfast spot . Great portions and service.
