I traveled on foot to Danny's to make sure I was able to enjoy a nice lunch before they "closed" at 2:30. As I entered at 1:40, I was told I could not sit and be served but that they were serving take out only since they closed at 2:00. I whined a bit and they agreed to let me sit and be served. Somehow I got a Reuben with only cheese..no sauce or sauerkraut but I quickly got that taken care of! The sandwich was piled high but the $16 price seemed excessive. My meal of a Reuben, can of coke and a basket of fries was $22. I'm sorry...they say they are affordable? So...advice..make sure you confirm when they close if you're arriving a bit late..be prepared to pay dearly for a sandwich but know the corned beef is delicious!
I'd heard about this place and finally had a chance to try it. Very friendly service, and the corned beef sandwich was very good (and thick). But when I walked in, I didn't expect that the "regular" corned beef sandwich would be $15, and the "jaw breaker" $19 (both without any cheese or other sides, other than a small sliver of dill pickle). Yeah, I know prices are up everywhere, but those prices seemed really out of line for the location and what you got. (I often go to a small pub near there, where I can get a really tasty chopped steak and perogies lunch/dinner for about $12) Some other items on the menu seemed more reasonably priced, but I was there for the corned beef... and walked out regretting that I'd spent that much on a single, basic sandwich, even though it really was thick and the corned beef was good. My own fault, I guess, although the place's website does boast about "affordable prices," which even in today's economy, wouldn't seem to apply to a $15 corned beef on rye sandwich.
Fantastic family owned business. Great food. Great people. Do yourself a favor and get breakfast or lunch here. You won't be disappointed.
One of Cleveland's "hidden jewels" for breakfast or lunch (you can always find a great deal here) & truly the place to get one of the Absolute Best Ruben's/Corned Beef Sandwiches around.
I'm going back!! The food was excellent and the service was delightful. They close at 2:30 pm but you are full for the rest of the night.
Been going here forever. Breakfast Lunch all excellent. Corned beef is just as good as the Corned beef place down the street. It's a must stop if you're in the area.
