Wonderful place to go to and feel like you are among friends. The owners are so engaging and make sure everyone is having a good time.I went on Trivia night with friends and it was their first time playing. We had so much fun while also learning some fun facts. Recommend all to come to the tavern and enjoy yourself.
FAILED HARD. LOUSY experience. It took MORE THAN AN HOUR to get our food after placing our order. And, when we did get our food, the orders were both incorrect. Burger was overcooked, the server (Molly, who was very nice, attentive sans helpful) forgot the ranch (and later brought me Bleu cheese dressing, instead), and my wife's simple order (just a PLAIN grilled chicken breast) had some cheese on it, even though it was made perfectly clear that my wife had very strict dietary needs that prohibit dairy of any kind. The water was cold and the weather was nice. So... They've got that going for them. ??♂️
Amazing vibe, authentic feel, and friendly staff. Chris & Jessica (the owners) are extremely hospitable. The Academy is one of my favorite places to go with friends.Todd provides top of the line service no matter the size of the crowd.*Side note: the wings are AMAZING! Garlic Parmesan (pictured) is my go to flavor! The Drink: Go BlueUpdate (as of 04/01/2022): Fish Fry Fridays during Lent are amazing! I had the Fried Pike combo (w/ fries, & coleslaw). Ridiculously delicious! And the size of the meal is definitely a shareable size!Next drink: Jameson Orange Lemonade— it’s a game changer. Love love love this drink. It’s smooth and tasty, and does what you want it to do ?
I was not ready for the menu change! But the meal I received was great! DJ was a nice add!
Stopped here passing through town, delicious (and huge!) burgers while watching the game
If you are visiting Shaker Heights and enjoy the Saban Market there as well, stop by the Academy Tavern, a restaurant with a back seat that makes you feel simple and friendly staff. You will undoubtedly enjoy the taste of the classic burger. Thank you??
It's a Cleveland staple for a reason! Great, chill crowd at this neighborhood bar. Plus, the outdoor Igloo is pretty nice too as it gets cold quickly here.
I haven't been here in quite a while. It changed ownership and is definitely not what it used to be. Taking in consideration the challenges of COVID the service wasn't that great. When we arrived there were maybe three or four other people there. Once we were seated and we made our menu choices it took a while for someone to take our orders. Our orders were placed and we waited close to 25 to 30 minutes for our food. In the meantime people came in and picked up orders, others came in and sat by the bar and got their orders. Two of us had burgers. The hamburger size definitely diminished. The BLT wrap was ordered by two people in our party and they were very disappointed. There was more shredded lettuce in it than tomatoes and bacon. One person sat next to me and the other across from me. All I could see was shredded lettuce!! The other person in our group ordered the wings and he said they were good. I have NO intentions of going back here. And they have a limited menu.
Awesome time on the patio! Although it rained that didn't effect the exemplary service. Cold beer and stiff cocktails made us forget the inclement weather. Would definitely go back...next time on a Tuesday for their trivia night!
Good atmosphere, good food, excellent drinks.
