Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Swamp Pasta.
Family dinner for mothers day! Every ones dish was delicious! Catfish, pork chops, crawfish pasta! Sides of jambalaya and etouffee!
Poppers were a great start, as was the swamp juice. Porkchop was excellent, as was the jambalaya side. The side of grits was completely bland - some of the worse I've ever had. Overall, I would definitely go back!
Everything
Felt like being on vacation with the decor and antique mall attached. Our server was very attentive. Food was delicious. Loved the swamp juice with souvenir cup. The ribs were tender and well seasoned with a nice BBQ sauce. Sweetheart Ribs deal was fantastic with 4 sides to share and included Coleslaw and cornbread. Can't wait to go back and try more!
The restaurant itself is nothing fancy so I was a little nervous but the parking lot was full so I figured it couldn’t be terrible and I had a relative and a friend tell me how good it was so we waited 25 minutes for a table and the server was there right away! I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was delicious! Next we ordered grilled oysters and jalapeño poppers. Omg they both were amazing! I had bbq shrimp with grits and cole slaw. It was very good but honestly I was stuffed from the delicious appetizers we had! My husband had Mahi Mahi. He enjoyed it but was a little unimpressed with the small portion. He got jambalaya and a salad for a side. The jambalaya was very tasty. We will definitely go back!! There is an antique mall attached to the restaurant that we want to check out. It was closed when we got there.
Don’t let the name scare you off— place is real Cajun cooking. Stopped in late afternoon on a Friday and service was friendly and quick. We had the shrimp skewers, mahi-mahi sandwich (blackened) and jumbo house salad with mahi-mahi. Everyone loved each dish. Atmosphere was rustic and fun. This would be a great place for family or friends dinner. Antique shop right next door if you do have to wait. We will be back for sure. Enjoy!
I was looking forward to eating here because of the menu. They're known for their Cajun food. I ordered the fried catfish platter ($17.00), which came with a choice of two sides. I ordered the baked beans and cole slaw. When it was delivered, there were two small, thin pieces of catfish, and small dishes of beans and slaw, certainly not worth the $17.00. I also asked about hush puppies, but they don't serve them! Who ever heard of serving fried catfish without hush puppies! I complained to the waitress about the size of the catfish pieces, and she said that sometimes they come out that way. She asked if I would like another piece and I told her yes. That piece was much larger. However, when the bill came, there was an additional $6.00 charge for the piece of catfish, about which nothing was said when she asked me is I wanted another piece. The meal definably wasn't worth $23.00! If we hadn't been charged for the third piece, I would have given this restaurant a better rating, however, I don't think you get the money's worth here.
We've been here maybe 7 times and it's sitting solidly in my #1 spot for favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. The Tomahawk shrimp porkchop with swamp sauce is one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life. The gumbo and catfish etoufeé are also incredible. My wife got the grits and Mac/cheese and they were great too. That being said, we've thoroughly enjoyed everything that's come out of that kitchen and if we weren't an hour away, we would come here once a month.
I like this place because it makes me feel like I am in New Orleans or Key West. They have a great bar with an attentive bartender. As for the food, I don’t know. You have to like Catfish or red beans and rice or.jambalaya. The jambalaya with totally anew Orleans authentic. My friends loved it, but I wasn’t wild about it. If you want authentic New Orleans cuisine, this is probably the place. The attached antique mall was cool and I liked the layout. The pricing is outrageous, but they will barter will you.
