I don’t understand why nobody seems to have pride in their job anymore. The food is bland greasy, and beyond disappointing. What happened to the days where you could actually enjoy a meal at Steak n Shake? Lesson learned, I’ll just have to perfect mediocre food and a bad attitude at home when I want an experience from Steak n Shake
If you want a moldy burgers, you’ve found your spot
This our be our family's first time eating back at Steak and Shake since the pandemic started. We were initially caught off guard about ordering at a kiosk first then picking out our seats and then picking up our food once it's called. It felt weird at first but overall it was a great experience. The place was pretty dead when we went on this Saturday for lunch but the place was clean though. Love me some steak burgers!
You go in and order your food and they call your number. It’s very fast and much more efficient.
There are no servers inside. You walk in, and order food and pay at a kiosk. Then they call your number and you walk up to the counter and get your food. You also have to get your own drinks now, as it's self serve as well. Even though they had all these changes, the food was still hot, and the shakes were delicious!
The lady taking orders and handing out food was holding a young child while doing her job. Literally making drinks and taking money with child in her arms. Crazy? Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself. Needless to say this made receiving food and drinks take longer. Then she forgot my request for condiments. How was the food? Well I will start with, the last time we ate at this location, the food was below expectations. We went back hoping for a better experience. We ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 fries with 1 drink. The drink was very good. Sandwiches were cold and below the standard of expectation that brought is here in the first place. The fries you ask? We usually love the fries, however these were cold and had been waiting for a customer for some time before being served. I will say they were still better than Wendy's fries, but that is a low bar.Overall, I won't frequent this location again anytime soon. Drove 15 minutes out of our way for this disappointment. No, I didn't return the food for replacement. There are a couple of reasons. First, the unprofessional experience at the window was considered. Having a crying baby being held by the lady handing out food was disgusting enough reason in a normal world, let alone a world of COVID. Another reason, why would I want to sit through a drive thru line a second time in order to get a decent meal? Why would I go into a store to replace food when I went through a drive thru? Why would I risk someone spitting in my food or worse? So I took my loss and moved on. Maybe my experience will save someone else from the same fate? Maybe the corporate office will read this message and make changes? Who knows? It will be quite a while before I stop here again. There are no other Steak n Shake locations close to me, so I will have to wait till I make a trip to Milford or farther to enjoy one of my favorite meals.
Went through drive thru later at night. My steak burger was fresh, the fries seemed to have been made in old oil, though. Now, where it shines. The cotton candy milkshake was amazing. And just how blue it is, wow. If you like cotton candy, this is the one to get.
I was very excited to be able to dine in, however, A LOT HAS CHANGED! I don't know if this is in response to covid directly, response to covid indirectly, response to staffing shortages, an overall operating procedure change, or what, but it definitely different. When you walk in you place your order using large touch screen terminals (most lunch/dinner items are still on the menu). You select if you are dining in or carry out/to go. If dining you you seat yourself. If you want a beverage you can only select self serve fountain which you do just that. When your order is complete they will call out your order number and set your tray in the window. You then pick up your tray, return to your table and eat. Once done you place the tray at one of the trash can areas, place the plastic food baskets in the bin and throw away any trash. I will say again, it is a completely different experience, but the food is just as delicious and the staff are just as friendly and helpful, albeit far less interaction with them. I didn't see coffee anywhere and I did not see any breakfast items (we were there during dinner hours so it may be an option then). I am still excited to be able to dine in, despite the changes.
Same great food hut a different experience. My rating is because an employee's children were seated at a small table BEHIND the drink station and were running amok around the front AND back.During Omicron. Not likely to return.
The dining room is finally open, but the restaurant has changed formats. No more wait staff. All orders must be placed at kiosk. No more plates or silverware. You have to go pickup your own food and clean up after yourself.I ordered a butter double with grilled onions and medium fries. They forgot to butter the bun. They no longer have any seasoned salt for the fries. On top of all the downgraded service, the prices are higher.I will not be going back as long as they have this format.
