service was horrible food was not what I expected or ever received in the past since the owner has passed the place has really gone downhill in the worst way possible honest to God I really wish they would closest restaurant down it would be the best thing to do let my friend going pee and let his legacy live on
The best Chinese food I’ve ever had. We had fried wontons, wonton soup, an egg roll, soup dumplings, and crab Rangoon to start. Every single bite was delicious and I’m not sure I could pick one I loved more than the other. I had the Mongolian chicken for my entree and it was amazing. Service was great too! We are not from here but I think we will need to come back and visit so we can come back to Shanghai on Elm.
Amazing food and they are open late. Win win!
Date:Feb 23rdTime: 11:15pm ishFirst time customer(Pickup/Carryout)?Positive Notes: The site to place your order was easy to navigate(or you can call),clean restaurant, friendly staff, easy pickup and satisfied my late Chinese food cravings .Unpopular Opinion: Overrated and Overpriced. My fiancé and I ordered(Pickup/Carryout) the General Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Egg Rolls and the total was almost 55$.Not sure if the prices are high due to inflation, location, late convince, or maybe I’m used to the neighborhood Chinese restaurant prices.Note:~ If you order the Generals Chicken this is NOT the breaded deep fried chicken with the thick, sweet sauce. Its a more healthier, baked chicken. Also, the Lo Mein does NOT have veggies in it (veggies are in entree).
We tried this restaurant tonight for the first time after hearing about it from a friend. The food was extremely good. I would describe it as fancy Asian food without the fancy-fancy atmosphere. You can show up in jeans or you can get dressed up and have a date. Either works! No dish is served like your typical Chinese restaurant - Each plate or bowl brought out has great presentation and an even better taste. 10/10 would recommend! Egg rolls were the best we’ve ever had!
So so good! All of the dishes I’ve tried have been fantastic, but Shanghai on Elm hands down has the best tofu in town. How do they do it?? The texture is perfection. Highly recommend if you are a tofu fan! (Like, all 5 of us in this city…)
The food has been perfect everytime we have ordered. I made a request that the gf dishes be available to order online with tofu and yesterday I noticed they changed a couple options to be able to do that! Seriously run to this place and try it!
Great atmosphere. Good food. Only problem was shelling your prawns. Everything else was great. Service was great. No t shirts tho
Family dinner for 4 on a slow Thursday night was perfect. Service (Carlotta) was attentive and quick. With some guidance, we sampled at least 6 different menu items. Some of our favorites ... won ton soup, Szechuan chicken, 5 spice wings and a large noodle bowl! We shared a nice bottle of wine. You should go!
Enjoyed every minute of our meal and the food made you want to come here for lunch and dinner daily. Can't say enough how well they kept up even while busy. Recommend trying both beers below if you're not already familiar and if you are enjoy! We will definitely be back and proudly bringing family and friends ?
