Used to love this place, but under new ownership the quality isn’t there. $8 for the piece of key lime pie that was frozen!! It is suppose to be homemade, unless this is the new tactic when the homemade pie is out. We even had to ask for whipped cream….so better Pelican’s Reef! See photo!!
If the owner was there, we won't have the bad experience we had Thursday night. Went to dinner last night. Patiently wait Over an hour. They have tables available but they won't seat us because , " it's their policy to seat us in the same station with one server, even if we told them that we can sit in 2 tables and it's separate checks anyway. That young guy, whatever his position is, got hostile. Whoa, we just want to be seated, we got tired of standing. We got there at 630, we got seated almost 8 pm. We got seated in 2 tables anyway. My drink was too strong, I,think she just dump alcohol half of the glass, what happen to 2 oz?. My friend on the other table, can't taste alcohol on his drink.. Funny, I think all the alcohol went to my drink. The soup and salad came out quick, but the food is almost an hour. There's not much people there. I think they have to catch grouper first . the calamari was dry. The grouper was salty. We were very disappointed. It was my 60th birthday, I wanted it to be a little special. I recommend the place to my friends. I was embarrassed. We were wondering if once we get our food if we get kicked out because they are closing. It was run by a whole bunch of young kids. The host and food runner has to be less than 15 years old. Sorry my friends. There so many restaurants, I made you drive 1 hour to Pelicans.
Blackened Tuna with grilled Asparagus and Boursin Cheese mashed potatoes. Cod Sandwich and onion rings.Food was delicious would have given 5 stars but they were out of everything I wanted to order.
We love eaten at the Pelican, always excellent service and food.
Pelican's Reef is just the best! The food is prepared so well with fresh ingredients. Daily specials really mix up the menu so you can order something a little unique but also get menu favorites. Beer selections are diverse & service is always awesome! Recommend it highly!
Train wreck of a night. We decided to do the special menu for Valentine’s Day. Limited menu and we are 90 minutes in and still on first course. People have been getting up and leaving before they they got their final course: So sad as this was a gem of a restaurant in Anderson township. This would have never happened when Patti and John owned the restaurant. Next day update: restaurant ran out of almost every entree and one of the only 2 second course options. Really sad experience especially considering it was Valentine’s Day with required reservations and a set limited menu. Very perplexing evening.
Today's visit was rough. Sent back grouper sandwich because it was cook was cooked into jerky. Still got charged for it. Also my wife got the crab cake entree because the crab cake appetizer looked so good. The entree version crab cakes were half the size. Very disappointed ☹️
I had not been to Pelican's Reef in about 20 years but, always raved about it to my husband. I don't know why it took so long to get back here! The ambience is great! Very fun, and beachy. The staff was fantastic, and friendly. We started off with the lobster bisque and calamari. The bisque was hearty, and creamy, with just a hint of heat. I love how they crumble the crab meat into it, so that you get an abundance of crab in every bite, and not just a nugget here and there. The calamari was super crisp. Large body rings, along with the tentacles. It wasn't rubbery like most places. It was tender, and moist. I can see why it's rated best in Cincinnati!I ordered one of the specials of the day. It was a seared ahi tuna wrap. It had large, melt in your mouth, pieces of ahi, stuffed with a cabbage slaw, and a sweet teriyaki sauce. It was so delicious! My husband also ordered a special. It was a huge lobster roll. It had giant, meaty pieces of lobster, in a creamy dressing, with chopped green onions and tomatoes. It was quite delectable. For dessert, we had to try the peanut butter pie. OMG! It was not mealy but, silky, smooth, and very rich!Definitely not going to wait as long for our next visit!
Very good fresh fish dishes, including a massive stuffed grouper with tasty cornbread. But they also have great bar style food! Giant chicken tenders, a big bacon burger and well seasoned fries. The side salad was a large side, what I've seen as entrees at other places. I haven't eaten in, but I thoroughly enjoyed my takeout meal, as did my two family members.
If you want to go to Florida without the plane ticket prices just go here! Food was fabulous, service was great (I sat at the bar)! 1st time there and if will definitely be going back :)
