We carried out three "Big Bowl" entrees: Bourbon Street Chicken (mild and slightly sweet), Shrimp Etouffée, and Drunken Chicken (apparently cooked with beer). These were served over our choice of white or brown rice and each came with a chunk of fresh bread. The portions were large. All three dishes were very tasty. The model here is to order at the counter, as opposed to table service. The dining room is basic and a bit utilitarian, but quite clean. The staff was remarkably informative, helpful, and kind. They will let you sample an item to make sure it's what you really want. We were very happy with our experience and will definitely return.
We've been to three other JGumbo's in the past, this was our first time at this location. The first thing we noticed, the bread wasn't toasted and buttered. The second thing, they didn't have the JGumbo hot sauce in the bottles for sale. They gave my wife some hot sauce on the side, however, she said it didn't taste like what you used to bottle. The biggest problem was with my wife's bourbon chicken. They asked her if she wanted a spoon or fork. That had never been an option before and she thought it was strange. When she got the food, they had a bunch of water in with the chicken and rice, it was more like a Ramen soup. She said it was so watered down it didn't have much flavor and wasn't good, she hardly ate any of it and brought the rest home for the dogs.We thought it was strange that I got the Jean Lafitte and it wasn't watery like that. In the past, her chicken has never been watery like that. Did you change what you send to the stores, or is it just this location? When my wife asked for to-go containers, she asked about the water and if that was normal, they just blew it off and said it depends. They didn't ask how it was or if it was a problem. We won't be going back to that location again.
This was my 1st time eating here. The team was very helpful with food suggestions and I was able to try a sample. I tried the voodoo chicken, the flavors are amazing and a bit of spice. I decided on the drunken chicken bowl. it was packed with flavors, and the portions are great. Their meals are just amazing, hearty and full of flavor. The only issue was with myself, I should have bought 2 bowls!! This will definitely be a regular stop for me!
A Little Slice of Louisiana in Blue Ash. Amazing Bold Flavor and Soothing Soulful Finish.

Ohhh how ive missed you so much j gumbos! I always would get the voodoo and the bumble bee.. it was super hard to try and finish my bowl in one setting w 2 slices of corn beard.. i was unable to Conquer it but boy was my belly full like a Thanksgiving dinner! The ladies here were awesome! And the taste hasnt changed since ive last had js many many yrs ago!.. i will be back! Hopefully not this week but not promising it! ??
Shrimp didn't taste cooked. Need to grill or saute the shrimp. Etouffe sauce and cornbread was very good. Out of crawfish?
Not authentic gumbo by ANY sense, but it tastes okay. Rice, stew and they put cheese on top. They have different flavors, and "appetizers" but don't get ripped off the apps are the same price as a meal with half portion sizes. And their main meal portions are inconsistent, they said because their bowl size changes based off the shipment that week. This place is in walking distance and I hesitated to try it. I now know I wasn't missing much.
Great food, would give 5 stars if they were open at all on the weekend or past 5 o clock
Had the honey Sriracha chicken with cheese and boom seasoning. Was really good and I didn't die after eating it so I'll definitely be coming back. 4/5 place rules.
