Our trip to your Hathaway's was Great! The food was wonderful came out pretty quick it was hot and so tasty ?. The atmosphere of the 50s was so neat, and all the wonderful pictures "history ' is exciting to take a look back in Time. All the pictures on the walls sure do bring back such good memories. Our Server Jen was Awesome, and sweet as can be. She went over and beyond being a server. Not one time did my family need or want anything. She was great help with the menu, she knew it oh so well and not only did she take care of us she looked like she was taken care of every table. It's hard to find help that actually Values and cares about their job If only every restaurant had a valuable server like mine it would be a better place to eat?. Sure will be back with my family and friends again and again. Thanks Hathaway's for such a great memory with my family ?
Hathway's Diner ... Thought I would check the place out, this location is close to where I work downtown and I was out walking around and as I past by I decided to go in. Being from Cincinnati myself, I wanted to have one of the local favorites, geotta. To be honest I felt a little weird, the vibe as I entered the place, an uncomfortable feeling a not welcome feeling, areas roped off, staff with attitudes, wasn't quite overwhelming enough to make me turn around but it wasn't far from it. Anyway I sat down and placed my order for a GLT, it's like a BLT except geotta instead of bacon. The plate came with potato chips, I would have like to had something instead of chips. I thought $12.99 for a sandwich with chips sounds a bit costly but if the sandwich was well made than it would be worth it. As you can see in the photo the small thin portion of geotta in the center of the toast was not worth such a demanding price. As an example I get a slice of geotta 6x that amount for $3.00 at Stephen's Restaurant where I go for breakfast all the time. The tomato slice was bigger than the geotta. It's like having a white castle burger patty on a regular size bun. ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE PRICE.
Same wonderful restaurant in downtown Cincinnati...new location-based! Located in the same building with street access (5th Street) as well as access inside the Carew Tower Building
WON'T BE BACK! Went in yesterday to enjoy a cute place full of nostaglia and all we got a cup of coffee and a half glass of soda. Wait time upon entering was about 20-30mins and for a Sunday afternoon we didn't think that was too bad. While we waited we enjoyed the photos on the walls but that was about it. The fun stopped once we were called for our table! About 2mins after arriving at our table a server/food runner came to our table for "our food" - not ours (disorganization, strike one). After waiting for about 20mins the same waiter who tried to give us someone else's food walks past and proceeds to ask if we've been helped - nothing in front of us and we've been sitting for 20mins so - probably not. He proceed to take our order but was in such a rush he asked for the entire order at once (not that we minded we had, had plenty of time to review what we wanted). Coffee, OJ, Soda and the eggs/hashbrowns and toast. About 10mins after our order was placed the coffee and soda arrived - the half glass of soda, we never did see the OJ. Once the drinks arrived we continued to wait for what seemed like forever and looking back I really wish I would have put a timer on to determine exactly how long we waited, but we watched people get food - eat - pay - leave a couple times over during our experience. We watched the table next to us get up and get their own coffee refill because they couldn't get the waiter to do it. We watched the Mgr (if you call him that) walk around and never once check on tables (at least not ours) to see how they were doing or if they needed anything. We watched more food runners walk out with plates of food (for those who actually got theirs - after we had arrived might I add) and stand in the middle of the not so busy dining area and say who ordered: 2 hamburgers. I also saw men having to wait for someone to come and unlock the restroom door just so they could go in and use it. It was at this point we had, had enough and decided it was time to leave. Noone ever stopped by to let us know when we could expect our food or a refill. Upon reaching the cashier (who was less than put together to be a front end person) she proceeded to scream that our table was leaving. The manager then proceeded to show up at the front and half heartedly apologize for the lack of service and that the kitchen staff was a mess. I'm sorry but the whole place is a mess. They had maybe 2 in the wait staff that I was actually able to identify as wait staff, you had people coming from the back taking things off the table where your customers are sitting without telling them and just reaching around and grabbing stuff - this is beyond disorganized and it starts with management. The only positive I have to say about this place is the chairs are cute and they have nice photos on the wall, outside of that it is a garbage restaurant that I will not be returning to, nor will I ever recommend it to others. Everyone here needs to do better, otherwise it will never survive. This sort of thing would never happen in bigger cities like Chicago, or NYC and if it did you can bet they would do everything in their power to retain the customer to ensure they get the proper experience, the fact that we were allowed to walk out the door without even an apology speaks volumes to the type of place this is.
The bacon. You know how sometimes you order bacon with your breakfast and you get a floppy sad piece of salty rubber? Well, dear friends, this is not that kind of joint. This bacon is a thin strip of crispy perfection that will make you close your eyes as it melts in your mouth. ? The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, the hash browns were the perfect blend of fluffy and crunchy, and if you're looking for a place to try goetta you will recieve a generous and delicious plateful. The pancake was okay and the biscuits and gravy were unremarkable. Just remember, you're here for the bacon.
We went with my family for my mothers birthday dinner. It was amazing! The severer, Jewels, help us have a special moment with a cookie, ice cream, and everything! The service was awesome!
It’s so delicious and authentic. Very affordable and great service. All around perfect place to get a bite for lunch!
We are I'm Cincinnati for a Cheer competition and came to this diner twice now. Workers are very friendly and the food was great. It's a very cute diner!
My wife and I wanted a decent diner, coming from New Jersey, we know diners... This isn't really anything special. The food wasn't even medicore, I mean it pretty much tasted like everything came out of a freeze and got slapped onto a plate. I had 1 egg, a sasauge patty and a biscuit with gravy. It was over priced for the portion and the 50's theme just didn't work. I appreciate the effort, but if you want to sell me on the fifties, you need more then some signs on the walls and the waiters in old fashioned attire (bowties)...
Such a delightful little diner in downtown Cincinnati! Great food at great prices and wonderful ambiance.
