I only leave bad reviews if I really mean it……and I mean this. The guy who seems to run this place (I heard a server call him “Tom”?) is a jerk. We didn’t even interact that much—he told us what the table and wait situation was like when we came in and settled the tab with him on the way out—but he was so deeply unpleasant to interact with each time. He didn’t look at us once, seemed deeply annoyed that we we existed, and was extremely rude to his staff while we were paying our bill. He is self-important and superior, and I don’t think anyone should be giving this guy money to feed his complex. Maybe even for his own sake. The food was okay I suppose—my bread pudding French toast was alright at least, although my wife was not impressed with her baguette sandwich—but the ambiance is rather lacking and the owner’s(? I think?) energy infects his staff. The servers are obviously treading lightly and it effects the mood of the whole establishment.Better go to Sleepy Bee or somewhere the food is better and the managers aren’t so clearly abusive.
The European Cafe is my fav place to stop for coffee, smiles and conversation on my way to work. I go to get a good cup of coffee !!! The menu items are great as well but it’s the coffee that pulls me in when I’m rushing to work. The owners are the greatest !!!
Was running all around Montgomery with a friend trying to find a brunch place on the weekend that wasn’t a 2 hour wait and happily stumbled upon this gem! It was a very well kept cafe with friendly staff. We were offered drinks while we waited for a table (the chai latte was delicious!). The food was amazing as well. We got a breakfast combo with gravy, biscuits and goetta. Yum! Definitely ate it all before thinking to take a picture to post with the review. Will definitely stop by again if I’m in the area :)
Just discovered this gem in downtown Montgomery. Exceptional food, friendly service. You can eat in or take out. Highly recommend it!
Great food, great atmosphere and customer service!!Tom and Andrea connect with customers, are very friendly, and truly make the dining experience phenomenal! We eat Sunday breakfast here often.Andrea and Tom came to the rescue when we needed to order emergency sandwiches for a birthday party. They were quick to respond and excellent in the services they provided us at the eleventh hour not to mention the delicious sandwiches. We LOVE European Cafe!!!♥️❤️
I am so happy my husband and I came across this little Café! The scones are absolutely amazing. Best scone I've ever eaten!! I even got one to go and they gave me a coffee cake to try, as well (how sweet is that?!). Do yourself a favor and go try them, like tomorrow. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which I am grateful for. We also had their coffee, espresso and a cappuccino. My husband liked it so much he got 2 espressos! I can't wait to go back and buy all their scones for the day ?!
Great cafe in the middle of downtown Montgomery. We had the curried chicken salad sandwich and the prosciutto with brie. Both were excellent. Also fast and friendly service in clean and bright surroundings.
This was my first visit since they have been under new ownership. The new look is very clean and modern. The food and service are excellent. I had the gyro with a nice mix of meat and veggies. My wife had the curried chicken croissant sandwich. Both were excellent. Our server was efficient, friendly and professional. It is nice to see they have high standards for food and service. We took home a couple of scones. They are very good.
The food was delicious! Great menu. Classic and nostalgic with a twist. Loved the cinnamon toast and scones. The staff was wonderful! Definitely will be going back.
