Water glass was dirty, had lipstick on it. A small bug was flying around after sitting down. Food was served hot but lacked flavor. Servers were nice.
Dinner with grandchildren. Food as always was very good. Dinner was early so it appeared that wait staff was just arriving. Very pleasant dining.
Great service. We love all of the sauces on the food. Made a point of ordering new items. Yummy. One of my favorite places.

There is no better Chinese food out there. After more than 50 years in same Hyde Park location it is still great! Best ingredients, excellent staffing, consistent (never disappoints). Highly recommend.
I’ve been going to China Gourmet ever since they opened, some 40 plus years! The service and food has always been consistently great! It actually seems to get better each time I’m there. Keep up the great memories!
It makes me sad to write this, because we have always loved this place, but it was a wreck when we went last night. Yes, the food was good and they have the same staffing challenges as everyone and worked hard to make due... BUT the booth cushions were literally peeling apart; multiple servers did not seem to ever have been trained; the song playlist was the same three songs repeating over and over again; other than an initial introduction, the servers only came to us when we called them over; they did not clear tables at all, even long after people left; I had to flag down the bartender to get our check... then list goes on. First world problems for sure but we will not be back unless someone else takes over.

food was pretty good but definitely needs updating. The booth had torn upholstery the restaurant generally needs a refresh. They seemed short-staffed but the servers all worked as a team and were very pleasant.
It's hard to convey the underwhelming experience to be had at China Gourmet. From the food to the seating to the ambience to the music. It's ambitious in its ability to disappoint.
