The ice cream here is so amazing! I usually get a pint and eat it in one night, it's that good. Their chocolates are likewise delicious. Also, if you don't want a runny milkshake, get the extra thick version!
I have been coming to Aglamesis Bros for YEARS. I make my annual pilgrimage from West Chester to get my Giant Pecandes (I graduated from the smaller ones) and the Montgomery location is where I have been going because the service is consistent, and it's less distance.One particular day, I came into the Hyde Park branch, and the candy attendant pulls a sign and points, saying that I now have to pay a custom packaging fee.Now keep in mind, I was ordering JUST Pecandes in that box, and a separate box with JUST Cashewdes... the extra fee would ONLY apply if I mixed them, which the sign clearly stated. I told her that I don't eat all the candy at once, and a bag would make them stick together (the box has a lining). I tried explaining this to the attendant, who rolled her eyes and then went over to her Manager, who, reiterated that this was the policy.She said she would help me as soon as she took care of the customers waiting at the fountain.About 10 minutes after, she came over and got the ENTIRE story... and then had to profusely apologize because the attendant got the situation wrong- they don't charge to box identical candies together! Just imagine if I hadn't stood my ground... they would have gotten an additional fee ON TOP OF the already costly pound of candy I was getting. Since I am a patient person, I expected the attendant to apologize, but she never did.Despite the decadent candy, it makes me have pause that it had to get to THAT POINT for me to get what I have been getting for over a decade! I know I'm not their typical clientele, but it's 2023!
This shop is in a busy commercial neighborhood that offers a lot of options. It was a great dessert choice. And, the gals behind the counter were friendly and helpful.
Went here many times in high school. Moved away and hadn't visited in 5 years. It was just as I remembered. Amazing as always. Even if you're not into ice cream, their chocolates and candies are excellent.
We found this place on Google for a late-night ice cream run. We are from Alabama, and we try to visit local places when we are on trips. We loved this little place. Service was great, and the ice cream was delicious!
AmazingThe atmosphere is wonderful love the old fashioned bad. The ice cream is delicious creamy and amazing. I highly recommend that are peppermint when it comes back and season.
Aglamesis is a moment frozen in time. A truly wonderful moment that I hope will stay frozen for many generations to come. Much of the interior is original. In fact, I was watching the 1917 silent film, "A girl's folly" and noticed something neat! The same chairs that can still be found today at Aglamesis! So yeah, that's pretty swell. Try the cinnamon if they have it. It's seasonal and it's just the best.
The staff was great and the ice cream was delicious. It is a neat old place (over 100 years).With that said portions of both ordered ice cream and counter bought candy are really small for the price.
They have such a cute Icecream/ Candy shop! I tried the Champagne Italian Ice. It was sooooo good ! I also had a salted caramel chocolate, a choclate covered caramel marshmellow and a buckeye ! They were all delcious! I will definitely be back !
Love, love, loved stopping here. Quaint, old fashioned soda and ice cream shop that was so delicious. The service was excellent too. I highly recommend if you have a sweet tooth.
