Always enjoy this locally owned restaurant with a very creative restaurant of seafood and barbecue. Staff is solid and patio overlooking the golf course is great but can get very hot. The problem is with the City of Akron who owns the property. The flower beds and greenspace in front of the restaurant looks like an abandoned field- weeds and dirt and very unattractive. The trash dumpsters also greet you as you are walking in with vert bad smells. The outdoor cooking area is also exposed and very unkept. These issues could be solved with a bit of effort and little cost. First impressions are important and this first impression is sad.
This was my first and last time visiting this establishment. We had a reservation and when we arrived, we weren't even acknowledged. We stood there at least 5 minutes before we were even greeted. Our waiter was great going over the menu and had lots of energy. We went to listen to blues and enjoy dinner based on a recommendation. We ordered drinks and appetizers at 830...we got our drinks shortly after. We noticed the band stopped playing and folks were leaving...it was 10pm, we still didn't have our appetizers and the waiter never came to check on us or take our order for our meal. We stopped another young lady, she checked on our food and informed us that our appetizers were coming up. She then vrought our food out. Our waiter then came up and told us here forgot about us! Really? We let him know we were unhappy this was unacceptable. He told us there was a golfing crowd there also! What does that have to do with us? We asked for the manager. He left in a huff and never brought the manager. He then came back with a desert menu! Why? We couldn't believe it. We don't want any desert! We wanted dinner. What was wrong with him. He snatched our check...not sure when he brought it...and said he would pay for us. Ok whatever. He never apologized or came back. My cousin dropped cc that night and called the establishment to ask had it been found in bathroom and was told no. She left her info just in case. She got a call from the manager the next day. She was super nice and stated they found card. We drive back to establishment to speak with her about the night before and get the card. She said she was surprised when she found out the name of our waiter and then said we'll we had an outside party. Not apologetic at all. We gave up on receiving any type of empathy or customer service. My cousin just asked to get her card and the manager had the nerve to ask for id...lol...like really? Now you want to do your job. Its tough trying to support certain establishments. But the vibe was off from the beginning. Although the appetizers were good lol. I will never return just because of how they made us feel!
My friend that lives in Akron suggested we have dinner there. The restaurant was full but Eric waited on us right away. We had to wait awhile but not to long for our dinner. I had the "Pine Nut Crusted Grouper Salad. I use to have a catering company and I had a great meal there. My meal was OUTSTANDING. The fish was cooked perfected and the salad was great. The owner took time to spend a little time with us and was very pleasant. I am sorry to read some of the other comments about Edgar's and hope you might want to try them.
Great vibe, great music, great service, GREAT food! I was thoroughly impressed with the seafood gumbo appetizer, house salad, and Shrimp/Crab stuffed catfish. I would comment on the dessert but I couldn't wait to submit this review. If you're considering eating here, you're making the right choice by allowing Edgar's to serve you.
Was here for an office Christmas party. Nice venue and pleasant staff. Didn't get to try the food but the drinks were okay. Overall I would visit again.
Been there twice so far, and it was absolutely delicious both times. The portion sizes were generous. Everything seemed fresh. The parmesan truffle fries were especially good. We can also recommend the prime rib, the pork ribs, the brisket sandwich, and the stuffed catfish.
We finally made our way to this restuarant and my husband and I loved it. We will definitely be returning. I had the prime rib and my husband had the stuffed catfish. Service was wonderful as well.
Ok, so this restaurant is consistently awesome. Excellent customer service and not one bad dish on the dinner menu! Be SURE to order the Prime Rib. Thank me later.
Not one to complain but slowest service I have had in a longtime. Food took over almost an hour and a half to come out. I could’ve walked to Lake Erie and caught my own fish quicker. Saw the server maybe twice throughout the whole experience. Food was good but service was like a slug
Happened upon this gem while visiting friends in Akron. The staff was amazing but the plus was our waitress who happened to also be the manager on duty. She was so delight and suggested some great dishes. Pictured is the stuffed Catfish. ? I recommend ?I loved the band but my only dislike was the house music. The volume was quite loud at times which caused us to practically scream at one another. Once the band was ready, the house music was off for what seemed to be the remainder of our time at the location.
