We visit La Carreta often, every few months or so, when we go to Bismarck. We have never been disappointed. Staff are so nice and friendly. I have told people about this place, they went and now they ditched the other spot they used to go to. Could the place use a face lift, yes. But the food is on point.
I was hoping for something authentic but my margarita was not good and neither was my enchilada. Asked for salt on the rim there was none, only took a couple bites of my enchilada. Server never smiled and never checked on us. Didn't give me the chance to ask for something else. Then when he took my plate that was still full he never asked if I enjoyed my meal, which I obviously didn't. When we got there they were not very busy, but it got busy while we were there. Wanted to take my mom on a late mother's day date but I told her we will go out again to a better restaurant.
I walked in 15 minutes before closing and these guys still set me at a table and cooked me two full dinners and a full dessert and still put chips and salsa on my table. Thanks you guys. I really enjoyed my experience at your establishment and I always try to make sure I recommend it to people when they ask me where's a good restaurant to eat at.
Great authentic food! Service is top-notch! It never gets old going there!
I’d give 2.5 or 3 stars. They have a large selection of food items on the menu. The chips and salsa were just ok. I thought it was unusual how the salsa was finely blended. It was more like a red sauce than salsa. The restaurant was not very clean and the drink cups I got were both sticky on the outside. Then the service was nonexistent. The server came took the order and disappeared. Never came back around to check on our drinks. The table did not have other hot sauces like other Mexican places I’ve been to. The food was ok. Nothing special. It was a mediocre experience. It’s highly likely I won’t return.
This place used to be good but man my last meal was terrible. Veggie fajitas were a sloppy mess. Vegetables weren’t probably cooked. Little flavor. Don’t waste your time or money
The best restaurant in town..I eat here about once a week since they have opend!! Service and food could not get better..
White queso! Everything we had was good. Not as spicy as we're used to but still seasoned and flavorful. The food came extremely quick and they gave us chips before the first batch was empty.
Great food great service excellent margaritas
When you are searching for some south-of-the border food in a town filled with "franchise food" (Applebee's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.), La Carreta works just fine. But you won't find anything that will stick in your memory as really great Mexican food. The standard salsa and chips were fine, but lacked some real "zing", as did their guacamole. I missed that sizzle of fajita fixin's, and no one else at my table ever rated their plate as great or outstanding.
