Well my crab cakes were burnt.Cocktail sauce was ketchup and no horseradish visible .The crab cakes were mushy and no flavor. It had lots of crab meat.Ive been eating at VT in Gboro since I was a teenager. This was my favorite thing. What happened? Very disappointed.I guess if you only sing your praises. Not a customer who has been a patron Since the 90s.At VT on westridge.
I absolutely love this place! The service is exceptional! The food is simply Amazing! I can eat here everyday and never be disappointed! The butter cake is Devine!!!
We were in town for graduation weekend so it was an exceptionally busy time to come to dinner on the Sunday night before graduation. There were only 3 of us but the wait for a table was 40 minutes to an hour. Because you can get the full menu at the bar, we decided to go in the bar and got to sit right away. It wasn't crowded so worked out very well pus we hit the jackpot with our server! Trish was excellent, attentive and had such a positive attitude! She had been working double shifts all weekend and was still fresh and worked hard to please! We would ask for her again! We started with a Knob Creek and a Lemondrop martini (see photo). The lemondrop was very good! We ordered the freshly fried potato chips as an appetizer. it was a very hearty portion, but they weren't very crispy so perhaps they didn't leave them in long enough since it was so busy. The flavor was good and they were thin, just not crispy enough For entrees, my husband had the spinach salad with chicken. He said it was good but may not order that again for dinner. I had the baja fish tacos and would order them again. Lots of fish full of flavor and hearty portion. I couldn't finish it all! Our daughter had the firecracker shrimp tacos and they were also filled with lots of shrimp and bold flavors! Another hearty portion. It was all plenty of food without a starter!
We ambled around Salem Lake, then toured Reynolda and wandered into the Village Tavern - by chance. The place was hoppin, for good reason - excellent service and sumptuous entrees. I had the shrimp n grits (I had too, I was visiting the south!), and really enjoyed the meal.
Yes, we used to love Village Tavern at Reynolda Village but this evening was poor at best. The specialty meatball skillet was awful. The meatballs were hard, dry and essentially inedible. The Deacon sandwich was okay but the sweet potato fries were cold. Service was very slow. Had not eaten here in some time and it now will be a very long time, if ever, before we return. A shame because Reynolda Village and the restaurant building itself are quite lovely.
Amazing steak! I ordered rare and I got rare. The marbling was amazingly tender and juicy which is difficult for me to get at restaurants when ordering rare steak. The sautéed spinach was piping hot and delicious and asparagus was flavorful. The tavern was extremely busy, but I sat in the bar area and was served very quickly and my food arrived in no time. All around a great experience.
After a day outing with our friends, we took them to the Village Tavern. We have been here before and had an excellent meal, so why not take them here too. We sat outside but it was a bit chilly for late March but it worked out well. We all had a great meal here as there was 7 of us and 2 kids. Everyone got what they wanted and had a great time. Alex was our server and she was just awesome checking in on all of us. she had the personality and positive attitude that you want when you are at a restaurant. We skipped dessert as it was even chilly for me outside and I like the cold. But on a nice sunny afternoon shaded by the large trees here it would be a great outing for a family or group on their patio.
VT at Reynolda Village is one of our favorite restaurants. We drive over 35 miles one way to this location even though there is another VT closer to our home. The primary reason we prefer this location is the amazing bartender, Sherry! The restaurant is always packed in the indoor and outdoor dining areas, meaning a wait for a table. Luckily the bar area is first come, first served and we almost always find a spot quickly! Then the fun begins! Sherry greets us as though we are long lost friends! We soon realized she treats all the guests as though she is entertaining in her home. The restaurant ambiance is old world charm and the bar is no exception. It is beautifully decorated with large windows at one end. Unlike most other bars, this one has a generous footrest so the bar stools are quite comfortable for even shorter legged guests! The food at Village Tavern is consistently delicious with a wide variety to choose from burgers to prime rib. We've never had a bad meal here! But back to Sherry....she works the bar like a well oiled machine quickly navigating from one end to the other making sure every guest has exactly what they need as well as preparing drinks for the entire restaurant, all the while with a smile on her face and a quick word to all as she surveys the bar. For sure the service in the dining rooms is also excellent, but there is something so welcoming about Sherry that we instantly relax within minutes of finding a stool. Favorite menu items are the Tavern Salad, fresh crab cakes, filet mignon, chicken teriyaki, gosh, everything becomes a favorite after the first bite. Without a doubt the Village Tavern at Reynolda Village is one of the best kept secrets among excellent North Carolina restaurants, and remains five star because of the always excellent service and food. I encourage you to visit and try sitting at the bar for a real treat. Be sure to tell Sherry Sandie says, "Hi!'
I celebrated my birthday here. We had a party of 7 and we sat outside. It was a beautiful day. I ordered some hot tea and they only had 1 flavor. This restaurant usually has a variety box of herbal teas that you can choose from. Very disappointing. So I ordered the clam chowder to start which was very tasty and hot. It was followed by my entree of salmon with green beans and rice. The meal was good although it was at room temperature. I like my food hot - as if it just finished cooking. For some reason the flies were very distracting. I chose this restaurant because of all the great times I have experienced there. Today was not bad it just wasn't as great as usual.
We sat outside and had to constantly swat flies from sitting on our drinks and food, 4 out of 5 appetizer plates were dirty, one meal came with a hair in it. They didn’t charge us for the meal with the hair, but that is enough to make the entire table lost their appetite. Not sure if it was just an off day for them or what because we were optimistic after seeing other reviews and the TA rating.
