Great bar tenders! Great food!
Good food and good service
Went out with family and had an awesome time! Food was excellent, good portion sizes, fresh and flavorful! Always great to sit down and watch as good is being prepared right on front of you. Besides the hibachi chicken I ordered the dragon roll (sushi) and some sake for the first time and it was great! Service was great as well! Make sure you make reservations, because it gets really busy on Friday evening. Parking can also be a bit of a challenge with all the traffic between those dining in and those taking out. You will spend some money, but the good and experience is well worth it.
Eating at Umi was more than just a dinner, it was an experience! As you can see from the photos, the chefs take great care in not only the taste and quality but also the presentation of the plates. We started with the seaweed salad (not pictured) and the Money Bags. Both were excellent! We got the Sashimi special for our main course. I was literally in awe upon seeing the plating! The sushi was fresh and delicious, a perfect amount for sharing with another person.Service was great as well, wish I could remember our waitress’s name.Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun dining experience at a fair and reasonable price!
Stopped by for dinner. Soup had no taste but had some kind of tiny chewy floaters, probably dried garlic specks, sushi was made of ground fish trimmings!!! With no taste and falling apart. Adamame was very dry and also tasteless. Worst japanese meal we ever experienced. Only thing positive was the waitress. Nice and efficient.
This review is about the grilling experience. Service is good; Attentive waitress. Food was good but if you have been in other Japanese steak house in the Triad, you will notice that they serve a smaller amount of food. Our chef was good but no entertain that all. Not a lot of tricks. Prices are high but comparable to other Japanese steak houses.Overall our experience was OK but not out of the extraordinary.
The Umi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Lounge Experience (Dine-in Edition). So on this day, I went to Umi for lunch. Before going, I looked online at their lunch menu and thought I would try them out. Once entering, I was greeted and seated at a booth. It was a little chilly inside, but the waitress relocated me to a warmer spot. I then ordered their Hibachi vegetables that come with soup, house salad, and fried rice. While waiting for my meal, I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and it did appear clean during my visit. Once back at the table, the waitress brought my soup and salad out. The clear mushroom soup had a good taste, and the ginger salad dressing was delicious. Next, the waitress brought my meal, and I enjoyed the cooked vegetables and rice. My side of ginger sauce and hot sauce was an excellent addition to my meal and enhanced the flavors.Would I go back to Umi? I would venture back to Umi for lunch. I enjoyed the meal and service I received. I felt like I received a comparable amount of food for what I paid. I'm not a sushi fan, but I saw a wide range of choices on their menu. So with that said, I am looking forward to my next visit.
I tried UMI while visiting Winston on a work trip. The overall atmosphere, service and food quality deserve high praise. I chose to sit at the bar and dine in after originally intending to order take out. The atmosphere is very chill and makes you feel comfortable. Bartender was very on point and service delivery was great. I love their presentation and the food was delicious. This is a definite repeat any time I'm in town! I was able to see the Hiabchi tables from my bar seat and the other patrons looked like they were legitimately having a blast
Terrible experience. waited 2 hours while multiple guests were seated ahead of us because we had 5 people and a baby. The hostesses said there were only 2 tables that sat that many guests and they refused to put two tables together. Half of the party finally left so the other half could get seated. It was nuts and made no sense
INTRO: Winston-Salem has its own hibachi restaurant, similar to Benihana’s or Kanki. During dinner, the chefs station the customers around a large griddle and cook everyone's dinners on it while also performing insane culinary stunts, including making a flaming onion volcano, tossing shrimp into their hats, and balancing an egg on their spatula as they bring the spatula around their bodies. Please note that these performances are only during dinner hours, which are reflected by the stark increase in entree prices compared to the lunch menu.ENTREE 1: Chicken Teriyaki ($10) - Since I came here during lunch hours, I was not provided a show unfortunately. Some pieces of chicken were dry, and other pieces of chicken were tender. The teriyaki sauce was pleasantly sweet, contrary to the overwhelming sweetness and saltiness of the teriyaki sauce from Panda Express. I do wish the portions were a big larger. 7/10WORTH IT? YES but only if you go during dinner hours for the show! (Overall 7/10)
