Suggested by my sister in law, this place is a true gem. We had a party of eight arriving at 7:00 p.m. We were seated, and food was on the table by 7:20. Pecan Chicken, Ground Hamburger Steaks, Smoked Chicken Wings, Greek Salads and Cheeseburgers were on our list of must haves. They did not disappoint. You must eat here!!! Pictured is Steak Pavlo $14.25. It came with mashed potatoes and I chose sautéed spinach.
My partner had been mentioning this restaurant for several months now. I guess that he happened upon it from riding his bike on the Muddy Creek trail and checking out things at the end of the trail. We live in King, so it's a little bit of a drive. I will admit that I was skeptical because a lot of these southern American restaurants in NC are pretty disappointing. Often the food lacks any seasoning and is overcooked, or unfortunately in my case, half the time the chicken is under-cooked and pink. Or it's boiled and rubbery. That was not the case with this place. The pecan chicken was one of the best things that I have eaten in awhile, and the sweet potato casserole that came with it was awesome! I tried some of the fried okra that my partner had and it was so good! He finished his food so fast and said that he would definitely eat here again. The only thing that I feel that I should mention is that this place is super affordable, but the portions may be a little small for a lot of American appetites. But, it is not expensive at all. I can't eat a lot in one sitting, so I wasn't able to finish it all, but my partner did eat more after we got home. Also, I have family in Argentina and they apparently have 2 choices of Malbec wine. Most places like this never have Malbec, but to see 2 choices made me happy! The service was great and e will definitely be back.
Very good Philly cheesesteak. Nice atmosphere, inside & covered outdoor tables with nice bar section & 4 large tvs inside. I will def go back. Very good service. I liked that I could have spinach instead of fries on the side.Cheesesteak , spinach & water for lunch was $ 12.72 before tip.
Upon entering the restaurant on a Friday afternoon at 5p I knew the music volume was going to be an issue. The restaurant was not crowded at that time but I asked if a quite table due to the loud music. I knew the noise level was only going to get worse as patrons came in over the next few hours. But we were led to a table where the noise level was just as excessive as surrounding tables. I told the person who seated us this table is not a quite table. About that time another employee came up was asked about a quite table. He said the party room might work as it was empty. I thanked him for that. We were a party of four. We wanted to be able to not only to be able to talk but to hear what the person next to us was saying. The party room did afford us that luxury but was no means quite with a large open window and open door. As time passed the restaurant filled up, the noise level continued to increase even in the party room but was tolerable. I really don't think I could have eaten there on a Friday afternoon at that time except for the quieter party room. Our food was very good but management really needs to revisit the music volume issue i.e. lower volume would be a wonderful plus ➕️. We go to eat and talk not to go to loud concert. Forgot to mention our server was great and friendly.
I ate lunch at The Sherwood today. What a great restaurant in our neighborhood! The restaurant is spotlessly clean, service was great and all food was freshly cooked and delicious. This restaurant is certainly recommended.
After being disappointed by our experience at Mr. Liu's, we went across the street to try The Sherwood restaurant. The experience was fantastic! The service was pleasant and well timed. The meals were tasty and appropriately priced. We've been back for more recently. The photo is of my clean plate. A sign of a wonderful meal.
Our go-to local restaurant in Winston-Salem. Family owned and run, the type of place people need to patronize so they don't disappear. Everyone in our family has their menu favorites, and The Sherwood has nightly menu specials (pro tip - don't miss the smoked meatloaf on Thursdays). Service is always incredibly friendly and courteous - last time we were there Debbie waited on us, she was like a member of the family by the end of the meal. Very decent craft beer list for a family restaurant.
This is such a great place. Great Food, Staff, and Owner always Top notch. My Son and I love to visit this place. The desserts are to die for as well. Highly Recommend. I would give them 10 stars if possible
Hidden Gem, my wife and I while in Winston Salem had the good fortune to dine here. Great food, excellent service!
The Sherwood Experience (Dine-in Edition). I stumbled upon The Sherwood trying to eat at oSo Eats. I had called oSo Eats several times and rode by and saw they were closed. So I googled and read the owners shifted to The Sherwood, and I was excited to see a resemblance of oSo Eats when I viewed The Sherwood menu.On this day, I ordered the Yasou Salad. The Yasou comes with fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, olives, pepperoncini, dried cranberries, crumbled feta cheese, and topped with Greek vinaigrette. I also ordered their soup of the day, which was like a southwest chicken soup. I asked for water to drink but found the cup to have a film inside, so the waiter brought me a paper cup. While waiting for my food, I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and the bathroom did appear clean. I also noticed smiling faces from the workers. I honestly was made to feel like I had eaten there before or as if they knew who I was. So that was a plus for the experience. Once my food arrived, I dove in and enjoyed everything. Would I go back to the Sherwood? Yes, I would go back. I found the staff friendly and pleasant, and I enjoyed my food.
