My husband was doubtful about the place from the street view as I admittedly had some second guesses but after finding it snuggled behind some buildings what a gem it truly was! The atmosphere, colors and smells were nothing compared to the taste and service! Most understate Restruant I’ve found in a while. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Oh Child approved.
Very friendly waitstaff. We even tried the Spicy Cucumber Paloma specialty drink for $18 because we wanted the full experience while here on vacation, along with the Porch Taco Plate (three steak on corn tortillas and three chicken on flour tortillas). The food was decent enough, the atmosphere was good, and the drink was so-so. The steak was a bit tough, but I assume this was out of the ordinary because the place was packed, including the parking lot. Maybe we should have ordered something different from the menu. It was good enough to definitely try again on a return trip. The service was excellent, but we did have to ask for the pico de gallo that accompanies the plates; however, they did bring it immediately thereafter, so no harm, no foul.
restaurant was clean and had a fun atmosphere. i do love all of the seating options and all of the staff are excellent. Turner is my favorite server as he goes above and beyond. they have some unique drinks on their cocktail menu and we just split the nachos which were good, but maybe a little expensive. overall good, if a little high priced.
I had heard so many good things about the Porch that I was ready to enjoy a good Tex-Mex meal. I was disappointed, and to be frank, I'm very easy to please (honestly). The atmosphere was a concrete bunker although the artwork on display was original and eye-catching. The noise, however, was incredible. Between the concrete walls and the poor acoustics, it's impossible to have a conversation. It sounded like an elementary school cafeteria on a sugar high. But the food was the biggest disappointment. I forget precisely the name of what I ordered but it was supposed to be a specialty. What I received was a stale puff tortilla shell that tasted freezer burned, stuffed with lettuce, tomato, onion, and sliced pieces of frozen chicken fingers, topped with some sauce that tasted like French dressing, Tabasco sauce, and honey mixed together. I genuinely don't write reviews because I'm typically happy with most meals, but this was a slap in the face. Reputation can be based on a fad, like "the Emperor's New Clothes". In this case, the emperor was naked.
The Porch Kitchen and Cantina Experience (Dine-In Edition). On this day, I wanted a salad for lunch and thought I would go to the Porch to eat. Upon entering, I was greeted at the door and sat at a table. They had a touchless menu which was great during these times. I ordered their chips and salsa and the Petaluma Salad that comes with romaine lettuce, red and green peppers, crispies, cucumbers, grilled tomato, avocado, corn pico de gallo, and feta cheese with grilled chicken. I'm not a fan of avocado, so I asked for that to be left off.While waiting for my food, I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The bathroom appeared clean at the time of my visit; however, the paper towels were not in a paper towel holder, which possibly could lead to many hands touching, a possible fall on the floor, or excess water dripping over it to dry hands. Once back to my table, my chips and salsa arrived. The salsa had a good taste. However, the chips needed salt and would have been better if brought to the table a little warm.A waiter brought my salad next, and I enjoyed it. It had great texture and taste with the combination of that crunch and the leafy lettuce. I received an even amount of everything, which blended nicely to the last bite. So would I go back to the Porch again? It is not a place I would dine at for lunch often due to their price point. However, I appreciate an eclectic design that creates a good eating ambiance. The waiter I had today was great and offered an even balance of asking if I needed anything and simply allowing me to enjoy my meal. Nevertheless, their prices lead me down another road other than theirs, especially for lunch.
The Porch Naked Burrito Bowl was about as lackluster as food gets. Ingredients included "Borracho Beans" which were nothing more than black beans scooped out of a can, the jalapeños were of equal quality, and calling the most flaccid onions and green peppers "veggies" is akin to considering ketchup a vegetable. It should also be noted that the jasmine rice was an uninspired lump of rice that served no more a purpose than a filler. The saving grace were the seven nacho chip adornments, not really because this was also uninspired.For the price of $15.00, save your time and money and take in Taco Bell instead.
