Delicious food!! Would visit often if we lived in the area. This restaurant was highly recommended and within walking distance from our hotel.

Simple decor, here all of the attention is placed on the service and the food. And, oh my goodness, the food! Our server was James, and he was wonderful. 3 of our group of 4 were first time patrons, and he made everything easy AND entertaining. We looked at the menu, made our decisions on what sounded delicious, and he changed my mind with the first special on his list, pork chops with redeye gravy. As good as everything was (and we shared from each other's plates), I may have a new favorite dish in all of Winston Salem. Put simply, all of our dishes were superb! The Shrimp and grits are to die for, the chicken is as I've always heard (like Grandma's), but the surprise hits were the cornbread and the fried okra... a must have if you're from this neck of the woods. You don't have to be southern to enjoy the menu, but it gives you background to fully enjoy this wonderful spot. Be there early, as it's VERY popular, for all the right reasons. ????❤️❤️❤️

In town for Business and we decided on Soul Food for 1 dinner. This was a diamond of a spot to find in the Art District. Staff, atmosphere, music, food, all at a reasonable price. Best experience in the area for sure.

This is definitely one of my favorite Southern restaurants! My must have appetizers are the basket of fried green tomatoes and okra. I also love the the sweet potato cornbread and this time we tried the mac and cheese. It was so delicious! I ordered the shrimp and grits; the grits were some of the best I've ever had. The restaurant has a cool jazzy vibe that adds to a relaxing dining experience. There is always a wait and they do not take reservations so be prepared to wait, but the food and service will make it worth it!

First time going today and the food was good. I got there soon as they opened. The okra/green tomatoes was crispy like I wanted.. the ultimate veggie burger was very good. I got the sweet potato cornbread to go and it taste like a cake.. very good.

Ate here after reading reviews. It was delicious !

We have loved this restaurant and have rarely had a single complaint but tonight my husband and I were dumbfounded at our experience. We arrived at about 6:05pm and were told that they were no longer taking names for their waiting list but we could order take out. So we ordered to go. While we waited we walked down to get dessert at Cheesecake by Alex (wonderful!) and walked back to wait for our order. While we were standing there 3 different parties came in and the hostess took their names to put on the list. We both stood there staring with our mouths wide open behind our masks. The hostess then asked us our names and we told her and said we ordered to go because she had told us she was no longer taking names for the list. She just stammers looking around and start like she can get us in now. We said no we’ll just take it to go because we were so mad. To top it off I get home with my most favorite Shrimp and Grits to find there is no bbq sauce on it, only cheese. So, so disappointed with our entire experience!!

Not only do they have great food, but our waitress was so nice! Great place to eat.

This venue has the best ambiance. The music is on point. The service is exceptional. I had the lunch box with the spicy greens. We - my coworkers and I ordered a fried green tomato and okra basket. It seemed like the basket was never ending. All of the food was just like grandma used to make. The vibe itself had me not wanting to leave. All of us were completely satisfied with the food, the portions and the overall atmosphere. All I can say is Outstanding!!!

We stopped in Winston Salem for one night, and when I asked the hotel desk employee for recommendations, he fortunately mentioned this place. They offer amazing southern food. However, they sell a food item that we never tried: sweet potato corn bread offered with an amazing restaurant created/flavored butter. It is served in a smaller sized skillet. This is a must order item. It was so good that we ordered one to go before we left.I ordered the fried chicken (which is fried in fatback). This is probably the most genuine southern fried chicken that I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The chicken was salted just enough to be flavorful but not overpowering; the crust was thinner and fried perfectly. (Too often, restaurants put too much breading on their chicken and/or fry it so that it is too hard). Also, the greens were amazing, and had the right texture aka they weren't mushy. My wife had the veggie burger which she liked. She also ordered sweet potato fries which I tried, which were great. They were cut large enough, and were fried enough so that they were hot and crispy, and had a bright orange color. They weren't oily or mushy like at other places.
