My friend and I were downtown Winston-Salem and wanted to grab dinner before a play. Our dinner was timely and delicious.
The food was delicious, and our server, Diego, was absolutely delightful.
Everything was absolutely delicious, came out in a timely manner and our waitress was perfectly attentive. We were there for a date night and had an absolute blast!
Such a lovely setting in a restored historic home with cool (even in 87 degree weather) and comfortable terrace seating. BUT the new summer menu that had only started 1 day before was limited and the printed menu did not list offerings that were of interest (ie 2 green salads were omitted so I ordered the wedge salad that was listed, an unappetizing sliver of iceberg and 4 halves of cherry tomatoes with a runny white dressing and 2 small chunks of bleu cheese at $15). Our server had not mastered the new menu nor the basics of service in this "upscale" restaurant; for example, bringing 2 pepper grinders rather than salt and pepper, both of which needed to be cleaned. I hope with time, these things will improve. I cannot justify paying from $29-48 for an entree while that improvement happens so we cut our orders off after the bread service (all seeming reheated from a prior meal), appetizers/salad.
Great dinner in a historic property. Service was great. Great selection of menu items.
I like the ambiance and historical building; however, our server, Clover, was unfamiliar with the menu, the wine, the cocktails, and just about everything associated with the restaurant. She told us repeatedly that the menu had just changed on Wednesday, and she wasnât familiar with it. She also acknowledged that sheâd just turned 21, and didnât know anything about beer/wine/cocktails. It was a disappointing experience. I doubt Iâll return.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner on a whim last night. My husband had lamb, our son had shrimp/avocado shrimp toast and I had the fried chicken breast. The meals were fabulous and presented well. We also shared desserts, banana pudding and the chocolate torte. Both were fantastic to the last nibble. Our server was so sweet and attentive. We look forward to another dinner soon.
AMAZING food and atmosphere!! Chef Tim has created delicious dishes, yet again!! Spring House never disappoints!
We were so excited about dining at Spring Houseâ¦but we walked away calling it Grease House. The âconsommeâ the accompanied the quesadillas was about two inches of what looked like thick BBQ sauce, but with about an inch of grease on top. Unprompted, the server suggested that I stir the consomme, in order to mix the grease in so it didnât sit on top of the âconsomme.â My daughterâs fried chicken had a heavy layer of heavy gravy on top, completely overpowering the fried chicken. And it was expensive, to boot. Disappointing and costly.
