I've enjoyed Mr. Lu's takeout for many years. They always seem to be busy and enjoy a loyal clientele in the Sherwood Forest/Robin Hood Road area. Lately however I've noticed a significant rise in their prices. Well, OK, what isn't going up these days. But if Mr. Lu's wants to raise prices they need to give their customers something in return. Like a sanitation grade better than 91.5; all restaurants should be above 95 at the minimum. You can read the Health Department report online - problems areas include food storage and cleanliness of food prep surfaces in the kitchen. The customer pickup lobby area is pretty shabby - all the food display pictures are faded, the floor could use a good cleaning, and the ceiling fan blades are covered with dust and grease. There are simply too many competing take-out restaurants in Winston-Salem for customers to put up with sub-par cleanliness. I suggest Mr. Lu's clean up their act.
The Mr. Lu Experience ( Call-in/Pick-up Edition). I wanted Chinese food on this day, and Mr. Lu was down the street. Now I usually frequent Mr. Lu on Robinhood road, but this location was near. So I called in and ordered their lunch broccoli and garlic sauce with vegetable fried rice. The individual who took my order was pleasant and gave me a ten-minute wait time.Once arriving at the restaurant, my food was ready, and I was out the door in no time. However, once prepared to eat, I noticed a piece of black hair on the side of the food container. I thought the hair was in between the lid of the food, but it was on the outside. While eating, I kept looking for hair in my broccoli or rice, but it appeared ok.The food tasted ok, and I couldn't help but think about the hair as I was eating. Would I go back to Mr. Lu? I am unsure because the area is not the safest and people loiter outside the establishment. The hair thing messed me up and had me paranoid while eating. When I want Mr. Lu, there is only one Mr. Lu I will frequent, the Robinhood location.
The food is not what it used to be. I know some restaurants have bad days but the third time is where I draw the line. Nasty food, terrible customer service….Why do we continue to give them our coins? They are only still in business because of us. No thank you..bye Mr Lu ??

Came here during my lunch break and I love the food!! In and out in less than 10 minutes! I ordered the Pork Low Mein lunch special with pork fried rice for less than $7!!!
They have good food, especially their fried chicken wings. Sometimes you may find a feather on them.
I ordered orange chicken and found maggots and a snail inside many of the broccoli. I will never order from here again.
