I totally get the shortage’s of staff going on now a days. That’s what was happen there. The staff was not friendly. When I went to pay with a credit card, was warned that when I pay with a cc I would pay a surcharge. Who actually totes cash around now days? Didn’t have the cash (esp when they charge 17 bucks for a fish sandwich) to foot the bill. I still tipped without that surcharge. But, so easy to see that this place has difficulty hiring people when they do this and it impacts what people tip the folks that work here. Owners need to rethink the cheapness here.

Before Paul McCartney concert, we enjoyed a fantastic meal at a local favorite spot. Delicious cole slaw, shrimp po boy, crabcakes & she-crab soup! Great service and cute tee-shirts for sale. Will absolutely return!
Wow! This is a very nice place with great atmosphere and customer service was great. I ordered the oysters, crabs legs and shrimp. Season very well. I will be back next time I’m in the area. Very enjoyable evening! ??
I came here today to enjoy one of my favorite downtown spots, but now they are charging an extra 3% for all card transactions. Can’t in good conscious patronize that deal. Don’t like it enough to go get cash and come back so I’m just going elsewhere. Disappointing.
Don't let the outside dive bar vibe fool you. This place has some seriously good seafood and the menu options are diverse. I had a grilled salmon Caeser wrap and it was hands-down the best one I've ever had. The fried oyster appetizer was terrific. Great bar menu and beer selection. Bar seating goes the length of the table seating but there is also sidewalk seating outside.
One of my favorite places in Winston to hit up for raw oysters, I've eaten so many I've actually bitten into a large pearl once!I've been frequenting King's Crab Shack since I first moved to Winston in 2015 and have always had a great experience. Mainly, to get my oyster fix, I can always rely on reasonably priced, shucked oysters by the dozen.The oysters are from the James River in VA and have a nice mild, creamy taste to them so I always order these by the dozen or two when I come to get my fix. Most recently, I celebrated the birth of my son with two dozen since I was unable to eat these while I was pregnant and boy was I in heaven. Of course, I shared a little with my hubby :). We enjoyed the crab dip for an appetizer as well which I'd recommend if you're into that.
King's Crab Shack was recommended by a friend so we gave it a try while visiting Winston-Salem. The is a great local hangout. Yes, the seafood is amazing but I had to try the Jamaican Jerk Burger! Very authentic to Jamaica including those amazing spices! the Jerked Chicken Quesadilla was also great! Ice cold Beer too!
I didn't eat seafood before the Crab Shack came along; now it's my favorite thing to eat. Great food (hard to find something bad here), and a really friendly staff who's engaging and knowledgeable.
If there's only one person working bar and floor better be ready to wait. But the steam bucket was decent to be in Winston, after 45min wait??
