7/9/22 I went yesterday to get the tin of Moravian sugar cookies for my wife. The tins sell for right at $28. ea. I picked one up at the Reynolda store and looked at the date, I was shocked to see 8/2/22 EXPERATION DATE???????? I had them check, and every tin container of sugar cookies was dated the same. I left and went to Thruway store and they had the same thing. This is so sad to me that a company as old as Deweys would CHEAT us like this. Approximately 16 days until out of date and still the ridiculous price of $28. They could at least put them on sale, but I guess they would rather US lose our money than Deweys lose any! I call this The Fleecing of America. This is part of what is wrong with our economy, STINGY & CROOKED !!!!!!!!! Dewey's, supposedly part of America's History ?? They could mark down to 1/2 price and I am pretty sure they would not lose anything. BEWARE
Dewey's always has amazing cakes. We made the mistake of getting cookie sandwiches while we waited for one of the awesome ladies there to finish the birthday cake we bought. They were delicious, and giant: Two huge chocolate chip cookies supporting ar least an inch of frosting between them. So. Much. Sugar!Dewey's is excellent. Service is great, the cakes are great. They are not cheap or inexpensive.
I I’ve been a customer of Deweys for 25 years. I went today. I bought 2 cream horns. They have half the cream they used to have and they cost twice as much. I bought the pink lemonade roll cake and it was stale. I should’ve stayed with the pink lemonade cake squares so far they have not been disappointing. This this may have been my last trip to Deweys. they are focusing more on the gifts and not the bakery.
i have always loved dewey’s bakery until i went in the other day and saw the manager ( i think her name is candy) speaking extremely disrespectfully to her employees. the girl helping me at the front was training and she was kind and thoughtful and candy was extremely rude and condescending to both me and her, which ruined my experience.
today i went into dewey’s to order some ice cream with my family and i had to leave without getting any ice cream because the manager Candy was yelling and making a huge scene. it was absolutely unacceptable and frankly disrespectful. i will not be coming back because it is not a family friendly place.
Love the chocolate eclairs and the key lime pie ice cream! Highly recommend.There's almost always a moderate sized line because this place is deliciously popular! Staff is quick and extremely friendly. My favorite dessert place in Winston-Salem! (& If you visit Charlotte, check out Amélie's- they are similar)
Beyond the fact that their cake is amazing its really the customer service that adds to the amazing experience, helpful and they offer military discount. I love them and I hope to keep coming back for years to come. Highly suggest!
Half overstuffed gift shop, half packaged baked goods, two small fresh bakery cases. Overpriced. But you can find Moravian specialties like Lovefeast Rolls, and the staff is friendly. Busy busy place.
I love Dewey’s but my favorite are the corner pieces of the cake! I was in Winston Salem to buy cake squares and ask for the cake end pieces because that is my favorite. The Asian girl was pretty rude and immediately let me know they would not sell me those because other customers does not like end pieces. I wasn’t buying for other customers and truly feel like the customers should be honored their request since they are paying customers. I would want to make customers happy rather than being rude about asking for what they want and are paying for! If the customer wants end pieces, why can’t we get them?? Evidently, it doesn’t matter what the customer wants! It would be a higher rating if I could get what I request when they are in the pan for sale - but I have to watch the worker cut them off and leave them lying in the pan???
I like some their products, but the staff not so much. Completely rude and unprofessional. The way they talked to me is unbelievable. I saw an advertisement while I was ordering online that said you get a free tube of lemon moravian cookies with every purchase. The very rude woman that I spoke to about this explained that in small print it explains that my purchase doesn't qualify for that promotion. I looked it up. There is no small print explaining anything like that. I went back in to ask her to show me the small print that explained that,and she said well that's only for the website for Dewey's not pick up. It doesn't say that anywhere in the promotion.. I told her I would review Dewey's and explain that was a false advertisement. She said she didn't care. I said well let me add that to my review. She said "I don't care about that either." I'm a regular customer there, and yet they speak to me like this.
